The lasses from that part of the world aren't too bad either...... Coming home from Bangkok I had the good fortune to be seated next to this _STUNNING_ German girl, and I mean the whole deal - 5' 8", perfect body, just an all round perfect example of the female form, 11/10 y'know?? And it just made me realise that their stupidly awesome exchange rates are the only thing that could possibly drag any European lads away from Europe itself, because damn, them ladies is fine. The thing that made the trip that much more fun was the fact that my girlfriend was on the other side of me - of course, with that comes the sobering realisation that this will be one of the few times that I'm in the middle of two beautiful women for 9 hours with nowhere to go. P.S. Last time Man U started the season this badly, we won the treble. Go figure.

This match last season was a true summary of the whole season - some enterprising play, dominated possession, poor finishing, two sitters missed by kwassy, brilliant display by opposition goalkeeper. I dare say that this match will also give us a good indication of where we are at for the season. It's a bold call but if we do not beat Sydney we could be in for another tough season. There is no better time to play Sydney. They have had a limited preseason preperation after the ACL. A chunk of their starting eleven have only been training for a couple of weeks and they on struggle street injury wise. Round one is really a must win for our confidence. My starting eleven: GK: Danny (will be available) HAS TO PLAY. RB: Osman (has been excellent at RB preseason and just shades Clarky). NEITHER CLARKY OR OSMAN WOULD START IN MY TEAM..I WOULD SWITCH WILKO TO RB WHERE HE LOOKS MORE COMFORTABLE CB: Wilko (needs to step his game up this season because his preseason has been average) WILKO TO RB AND BOOGS INTO THE CENTRE CB: Vidmar (his class when he came on was evident. We need his leadership and experience at the back and with two more weeks under his belt he just shades Boogs) VIDMAR LB: Heff (again, two weeks and he should be good)HEFF RM: Kwassy (we need his pace and explosiveness on the right)PONDELJAK DCM: Mile (picks himself for this position) PROBABLY START WITH MILE DUE TO PRE-SEASON FORM BUT WOULD GIVE OWENS LAST 30 MINS ACM: Tommy (our only true playmaker and we need him in a position of influence) NOT A CENTRAL MIDDIE PREFERS THE FLANKS. GREAT ON THE RIGHT. LM: Browny (has been our best player preseason and his freekicks are a massive asset) SUBS BENCH...BUT HAS LOOKED PRETTY GOOD SO FAR..SLIGHTY LEANING TOWARDS HUTCHO ON THE LEFT. S: Sasho and Nik (disappointed that they have had little game time together preseason but their partnership is the key to the Mariner season. THESE TWO HAVE TO START. Subs Trotty (really putting some pressure on Danny) NOT REALLY BUT LOOKS MUCH BETTER THAN LAST YEAR Boogs (unlucky to miss out but we really do need Viddy at the back) STARTS FOR MINE Clarky (a whisker from replacing Ossy) SUB Gumps (misses out because he can only play centre mid) UNBELIEVABLE!! CLEARLY OUR BEST PLAYER FOR LAST TWO SEASONS. I DREAD ANY GAME THAT HE DOESN'T START AS WE ARE TOOTHLESS WITHOUT HIM. WHY WOULD YOU WAN'T OUR BEST CENTRAL MIDDIE AND THE CORNERSTONE OF OUR TEAM TO PLAY IN ANOTHER POSITION. THATS LIKE SAYING YOU WON'T PICK DANNY IN GOAL OR NIK UP FRONT BECAUSE THEY CAN ONLY PLAY IN THOSE POSITIONS. Owens (shades Simon for a bench position on the basis of his versatility) . GETS LAST 30 MINS. WHEN FIT WILL PROBABLY TAKE MILE SPOT.

i doubt Gumps will take Mile's spot in the starting XI. Even though they both play in the centre of midfield, they're entirely different players, and defensively we would be weak without Mile in there.
If Gumps is going to take either of the spots in Mick's team, it would most likely be a straight swap with Tommy P or Browny will be dropped and Pondels would move out to the left.

Yep, Jedi is one of the first on the teamsheet for mine, particularly against a team with an 'in the hole' playmaker like Juninho.
If Jedi was unavailable, and I've heard he has a niggle for Friday, I'd move Ossie into his position. An engine room of Gumps/Tommy or Gumps/Owens would be too attacking with Juninho lurking.

Mile is very doubtful but I think Owens can do a job defensively, his fitness improves each session so dont be suprised to see him thrown on from the start.Probably depends a lo on Sydneys line up to maybe 5 in the middle might be another option?
