Personally I don't know how the referee didn't see it. He was about 3 metres away.

Personally I don't know how the referee didn't see it. He was about 3 metres away. Sometimes when the refs see that sort of thing they don't know what to do so put it in the 'too hard' pile and ignore.

. off topic
. brett, love your avatar: it looks like jedi has just been escorted onto the ground (ie. by local under 6s) before kickoff . then he ruffles the midget's hair and shows points him to the tunnel

I have heard that Sydney FC board, working through an unnamed Scotsman, paid for the hit on Milligan for stuffing them around in France. I have to say it was pretty risky work, what with the 18,500 odd people watching, but all in all, I'm pretty pleased with the end result...cheers ;D

Regarding the McFlynn incident two points come to the fore. 1) Why didn't the ref give Zadkovic a yellow card for his rugby tackle.
2) It was easy to see the McFlynn incident in the replay so what the hell was Slater looking at when the replay was being shown. Thursday will be interesting on Total Football when Slater reviews the game and the suspensions. He will gloss over McFlynn and keep harping (no reference to bald harper) on the Heffernan block.
I agree with Marinermick that there was definitely a whistle prior to Milligan falling over so the game was stopped when it happened.

Harper slightly redeemed himself on ABC NewsRadio at the weekend. He didnt pick us for the 4 but said that he fully expected the Mariners to show him up and make his prediction look stupid.
As for Slater............did we ban the C word here???

Glad to see Heff got off, the others were well deserved. You have to wonder what the referee was thinking when he missed the McFlynn incident? Must've had some severe tunnel vision when looking at the other bloke... Personally I think Heff's is a big deal about nothing. He saw Milligan running towards himself, pulled his arms in, squared his shoulder off, planted his feet and waited for the hit. The fact that Milligan is a pansy who bounced off him like a rubber ball just made it look a lot worse. That's my view and I'm sticking to it

I believe I heard that a player(s) from Mariners will be on Total Football tomorrow night. Bad luck all our guys are gentlemen as someone with a bit of mongrel could make it interesting for Slater and his ilk in the forum section.

Clearly it means Heff did nothing wrong, it just LOOKS like he body checks him while really Milligan runs towards him and dives. But yes the whistle had already gone, I think what Mick had said is right an incident involving Popovic.
Surprised Moore wasn't cited for his behaviour after being sent off.

Wilko out for 6 weeks though he said back by round 2 (second half). Heff relieved and surprised that he was not cited - just part of the game he stated.
