which begs the question:
did heff get off because the incident DID NOT escape the referee's attention?

Maybe they recognised that he was doing a public service by creaming Milligan. I am surprised they have not awarded him a medal. ;D Sydney Unofficial have just heard about it and are warming up. Give it about an hour and they will be on the boil. ;D

which begs the question: did heff get off because the incident DID NOT escape the referee's attention? Almost certainly. I reckon because the ref actually gave us a free kick, the incident technically didn't escape the ref's attention. Whether he was right or wrong, he must have seen it. Whereas the McFlynn one, the ref didn't see. I did see it on the replay the next day, he stood on Mrdja's arse after Zadkid (or was it Millsy) had already rugby tackled him. The Cove will be spitting chips! Bout time we got a bit of luck.

It was a split second before the Heff incident. Anyway the referee was there and saw the whole thing. It was not like it was in back play as the other two incidents. Sydney won't be happy. I wonder how long before Uncle Frank steps in and exerts his authority because things are not going Sydney's way.

I think it's brilliant, I could just imagine the phone call to Sydney FC.
FFA: Yes, hello it's the FFA SFC: Finally, so will the be any citings?!?! It's completely dispicable what happened FFA: Yeah....there will be citings, can you get McFlynn to come down here on Thursday? Great, thanks for that.

Yeah, the ref blew before Heff did anything, hence play had stopped and Milligan was just being a girl.

the free kick resulted from a corner. just before it was taken the ref warned some players in the 18 yrd box about pushing. It looked like one of them was Milligan. When the Heff incident occurred as the kick was taken, Heff turned round and raised his elbow. Milligan appeared to be running at him. The ref had a good position and maybe viewed it as Milligan running at Heff. If the ref told the review panel that, it would have influenced their decision. Sydney FC would never see it that way of course!
Just my tu'penny's worth....

I have heard that Sydney FC board, working through an unnamed Scotsman, paid for the hit on Milligan for stuffing them around in France. When they approached the ref and asked him not to notice he threw in an additional 10% and asked if he could take a swing as well. ;D The only thing everyone was upset about was that the hit wasn't hard enough.

Over at the Unofficial FC they have quitened down pretty quickly. They have put up a clip of the stomping incident and are more concerned with the length of suspension to come. If you can get on it is worth a look, especially for the commentators not seeing it even though it was replayed. Wankers.
