After the massive amounts of rain Thursday and Friday I was appalled to see the rugby grand finals being played at the stadium as I drove. From what I understand there were six games of rugby played there on Saturday.
As I drove by half the oval was under water and the other half just mud.
I don't know why they were allowed to play but I think this many games of rughy would have absolutely tore the ground to bits.
It will be interesting to see how the ground stacks up Wednesday night for the Olyroos.

Yeah, I hope the ground is going to be decent enough. The FFA wouldn't like to have to apologise to the AFC folks for a sh*thouse surface. Local Rugby probably wanted to get the season over and done with so the juniors came come to more Mariners matches and see what good football looks like (instead of that head in another player's arse and hacking game they play). ;D

Talking to a Terrigal coach he says the pump for the drainage system was broken.
Sounds like the same excuse as last year's roar game.
Bluetongue doesn't get much use. Modern stadiums should never have surface water.

I am waiting on official advice as we write that the Olyroos game may be moved to LethargyAustralia on Wednesday unless miraculous weather conditions and ground keeping prevail. Bloody scandal if it is!

CCRU would have ALOT to answer for!
Apparently they're blaming the dirtbikes from years ago, safe to say they'll never be back, but could be a DISASTER for stadium management if that game gets moved, and a massive embarasssment, to have our surface considered worse than Scumcastle's???
I was there on Saturday and the ground seemed OK when I left, but that was before 3rd 2nd and first grade. They actually played some of the games at Leagues Club Park.

The ground at Scumcastle on Saturday night looked very very patchy. It seemed to hold up ok, but was not a ground worthy of an international match. Maybe a local league.

the australian game is at Newcastle now No official confirmation yet ... I wouldn't tear up your tickets yet. I am supposed to writing on the game (and missing the Matildas v Ghana on SBS) so if it is in Newcastle it is just too hard midweek, so I'll do it somehow off Guandong TV and give our ladies some due deference.

Talking to myself again ..... The AFC Commissioner has ruled that the game is to go ahead at Bluetounge - we just need some restorative powers to ensure the referee passes it as safe.
