Mariners Hit 3,000 Mark

Central Coast Mariners’ early season success on the field has been duplicated off it with Mariners membership numbers passing the 3,000 mark.
Having registered 600 members in season one and 1,800 in season two, the Mariners’ landmark achievement in 2007/08 shows the staggering growth the club has enjoyed since their inaugural fixture in May 2005.
Mariners members can now be found all across New South Wales, including Drew Evans whose Singleton residence is 126km away from the Mariners’ home ground, as far west as Springwood where Campbell Hislop proudly wears the yellow and navy, and as far south as Cronulla, where Troy Weston and Leisa Furlong are Mariners Members.
"These are very exciting times for Central Coast Mariners members and supporters," said Mariners Executive Chairman Lyall Gorman.
"On the field, I could not be more proud of what we have achieved so far this season, while off the field, I’ve been equally heartened by the uptake of our memberships, and the increased amount of corporate partners that have identified with the vision of our club.
"At this early stage, indications are that we are set for the most memorable campaign of our short history, and it’s certainly not too late for our supporters who have yet to become members to join us for season three.
"Membership is the lifeblood of any sporting organisation and by committing to the Mariners as a member, you are committing to the Central Coast as a region."
This Sunday, the Mariners will again be hoping for another sizeable Bluetongue Stadium attendance when they take on the Perth Glory in Round 5 of the Hyundai A-League.
Currently top of the table and two points clear of nearest rivals Newcastle Jets, the Mariners are hopeful of adding to the crowd on Sunday.
"This is a call to arms – our team has illustrated their intention to be the best in the land this season and we need the Central Coast people to recognise this ambition and support our team this Sunday and throughout the remainder of the season," said Gorman.
"The Mariners embody the community spirit and unity that is so passionately represented across the Central Coast and we want to see that same spirit and unity represented in the grand stands on Sunday, where we will be aiming to extend our lead at the top of the Hyundai A-League."
