What has this talented youngster got to do to get a start? He's obviously got the talent to go on and represent AUS ( ohh thats right he aready has ay). If he is not played soon, im sorry to be the bearer of bad news but another club will snap him up quick smart.

Give us some background, age, prior club, reps, attacking or defensive player, size etc.
On club web site he shows as a central midfield.

I will answer my own question
Anyone know anything about this kid apart from mrkaant
Former Wyoming junior McAndrew became the landmark tenth Central Coast born and raised player to sign with their hometown club upon being unveiled as the final addition to the Mariners’ playing roster for the Hyundai A-League 2007/08 season. McAndrew’s acquisition capped off a fairytale period for the diminutive defender, who as recently as 2006 was playing in the Central Coast Premier League. McAndrew was first introduced to the Mariners set up in April, 2007, when he first appeared in a trial match against the Central Coast Lightning in the inaugural Central Coast Challenge Cup. One month later, McAndrew was a key member of the Mariners’ charge to the final of the Philips Lighting Soccer 7’s. The historic first Mariners player to have been selected from the Mariners Youth Academy, McAndrew’s selection provides Football Manager Lawrie McKinna with a further selection headache in midfield and defence.
Date of birth: Feb 23, 1989 Place of birth: Gosford Nationality: Australian Weight: 72 kg Height: 175 cm Position: Central Midfielder Previous Clubs: 2006-07 Central Coast Lightning (New South Wales

Well, Ian is a talented youngster who as midfielder said is a cc youngster. He can play in defence and midfield. He is only small but what he lacks in size he more then makes up in skill/ detemination/ stength. He is also a very very talented futsal player, playinf or AUS numerous times. If i was laurie, he would have to come into consideration sooner rather then later, because look what happens when you give youngsters a go ie: Nigel.

I think some saw him play in hong kong and gave him real good wraps. I know that tournament is different, but Mariners have obviously signed him up for a reason. I think similar to M.Simon, its a longer term view the club have taken. Can't wait for the day he gets a run though, reminds me of a younger clarkey, not a giant on the outside but a dynamo and undisputed talent non the less and could well be one of the 'giants' of the game.

I agree he should get a go and when injury reduces us squad size down he may very well get some game time but until then we have a decent centre midfield but i agree he should get a go off the bench or something. i reckon it would be good to try him out as a fullback for a few minutes instead of trying clark or porter there.

The centre midfield is our best place. Who would you drop? Tommy, gumps, jedi? We have owens, who is no doubt above ian on the pecking order, hence his being on the bench. He has quite a way to go to break the lineup, without more disasters for our central defence.

McAndrew from what I hear is not ready yet - give him time and some experience training with quality players and you never know.
Porter deserves a start in CM before him IMO, he did great for Lightning

macca is awesome, he is not actually a centre mid although he can play there comfortably, he did play sweeper most of the year for central coast lightning u20's and is capable of going forward as possibly a defensive mid/stopper. apparently he will be on the bench this weekend so he is obviously working hard at training and laurie has seen that he is ready.

I dont think he was a starter for the Central Coast Lightning first team.
So being a starter for the Mariners in any position would certainly be throwing the KID into the deep end IMO

he must be the shortest stopper/sweeper ever in the history of soccer Yeah, I though The Hobbit was short for that location but interestingly enough the club web site has him the same height as Browny! Hey, the Roar threw young Zullo in so maybe we have to take chances too! He had been playing senior Brisbane League though!
