With Mori gone and Mrdja looking doubtful for the season I think it is time for the Mariners to use the substantial dollars in their cap to grab a quality striker from overseas.

Sounds good to me, but who? Any thoughts? One unsigned Aussie striker comes to mind, although it would have to be a guest spot as he'd be after marque money AND he'd need convincing

There's only one Aloisi... There's only one Aloisi!! I think, but may be wrong, that we can fit viddie under the salary cap add peter turnbull's desire to spend some dosh money may be no object here would aloisi fit in the "no dickhead" policy? we also need someone who is match ready NOW, not take a good seven games to get there

how doubtful is mrdja for the season, the reports on him seem conflicting so can someone state once and for all what his prognosis is for the season? regarding aloisi it would be good to see him in the yellow and blue but i reckon in the long term we need a good young guy that lawrie has found himself like a burns or a djite. i.e. someone who can beat defenses not just poach. maybe i havent seen his best, but matt simon doesnt seem to fit that criteria

I can't see us getting a guest player, and the only way I can see us signing another striker is if Nik's contract gets paid out?
If anything I think Kwas will move up there and Tommy P on the left perhaps? Owens could play as an attacker too?
I think we'll see some pretty big changes next year........new marquee, aging midfield could see a few younger guys come in.........who knows?

Got a 'Page Not found' error when I clicked on the link, but the thread title is pretty clear.
I didn't actually think Mori was playing that badly. Just how well is he expected to play when all the defence do is hoof high balls up front for him and lazy arse to try and chase. On the rare occasions when there have been through balls being played on the deck, he's made some neat runs and set up a few chances for Petrovski.....the reverse certainly hasn't been true!!!
Also, makes me wonder what he could have done first time round if the FFA hadn't been pedantic idiots and cut short his stay with us. He'd really found his goalscoring boots then.....pity....

Oh, yeah.....and please give Owens a chance....not Kwasnik up front....pleeeeeeease! with the right person next to him Kwas can still do us a good job up front. Sasho with Kwas would work, Kwas with Simon wouldn't IMO. Kwas did a great job up front against Melbourne, was very unfortunate not to score. Not sure on Owens fitness level, 20-30 mins off the bench should ease him in slowly as he won't last the full 90 IMO. In saying that thou we are down to the bones so everyone needs to step up this weekend.

I agree Sasho & Kwas up front. Kwas is now playing like a man full of confidence. His very entertaining to watch.

lol i remember last year everyone hated kwas cos he couldnt get the ball in the net. Now we love him. But i agree kwas is playing good. I want to see owens in action it kinda frustrating not seeing him play, i reckon he would go hard
