I remember listening to an interview Lyall did with Paul Williams on Football Fever (the 2KY show) a couple of months back. Lyall said that they had sponsorships worth around 3 million (this was before the Energy Australia deal). He also said it cost around $60,000.00 a home game to hire BT including catering, security etc He also said this year will cost around 6 million to run the club. using the almighty calculating power of the back of an envelope... cost per season: $6m subtract from that: sponsorship: $3m fox grant: $1.25m (i've heard it's $10m per year to the 8 clubs, so that's 1/8 of $10m) so that leaves $1.75 to be made up from other sources. if the average value of a ticket is $15* then the required average crowd to break even is about 11666... we'd need to average about 13250 from here in to make it to that figure for the season. this is of course neglecting corporate facility sales, merchandising, and any other revenue sources. * this will probably be about right but by no means exact - it's an adult GA ticket. it will be simultaneously pulled up by higher cost tickets and down by the number of concessions and whatnot. the higher the proportion of GA memberships the more it will be pulled down, but memberships are worth something in non-monetary terms too.

Don't be upset bear, a lot of people have moved on from your favoured fingers and toes method of counting. Dibo that explains a lot about the way opinion polls are done then.

ok the full ASIC printout from my accountant (at the huge cost of $14.52) says; Turnbull 41.7% Gorman 11.0% FFA 10.4% BKW (who?) 10.5% CCMFC (who?) 11.4% and then lots of small guys.
So, Turnbull & Gorman together have over 50%

I had you figured as an abacus sort of guy dibo. Yeah me too....with a calculator, Roget's Thesaurus, Pocket Oxford Dictionary, and a pocket protector for his assortment of pens. And I imagine he'd always write in green pen.

I think you are not far off the mark with your crowd figures. A mate (close to board) told me that we needed 12, 600 per match before the Fox deal to break even. What has got me amazed is team wages with cap 1.7 m + Tony V say all up 2.3 m, plus say .6 to hire bluetong over 10 matches, were does the other 3.1 m go. Coaching staff, (Singo I think pays for Lawie) Travel Accommodation Gear There must be a lot of behind the scence costs eg Doctors

the youth league will be funded by the FFA for the most part. Also singo is payingfor aloisi, so dininishes costs a bit. Also some salaries eg nik, would be paid by insurance right?
