[NOTE ON THIS THREAD- it's football related, but in the city rather than the coast. as a mariners fan who really can't be arsed with 4 hour return trips for half an hour of local football i'll put it here]
i had my first game of any sort of football after rolling my ankle (til it made lots of popping noises, bent at an entirely unnatural angle and made me practically squeal and then swear a lot) tonight. it's been 13 weeks so it's feeling pretty good now, but as i haven't kicked a ball in anger since then i was naturally feeling a bit nervous - last time i kicked a ball with that foot was about 6 weeks ago and the next morning i could barely walk all over again.
but it came up pretty good. i played awfully badly, and we were down 2-0 when the lights inexplicably went out (one of the goals was on my defensive error too), but i got a few pretty decent passes away off both feet (i've always been fairly two footed, but my right is stronger and that's the one i f###ed up) and did a coupla neat things...
all i can say is that the joy of football is huge. playing, watching, anything. i (as i'm sure everyone else on here does) just love it all. i'm going to be buzzing again right through til sunday, and then our win will keep me buzzing through to next thursday.
it doesn't matter if work is shit (though mine is pretty sweet at the moment), it doesn't matter if the weather sucks, football is always there...

i've had 16 seasons of regular football. have done really well injury wise- broken arm and badly sprained ankle are the only things i've done that have had me out for extended periods. it was so depressing watching the end of our season from the sideline and not least because we went from 1st to 6th in 7 weeks...
