There's a romanticism with seeing the Lightning win but I don't know how happy I'd be with the Mariners losing, that one I may just watch. If I even get out there, shite Pluim Park is a long way away.

Gladesville had transport organised from the Leagues Club, thus easy, simple public transport to Gosford. Pluim is more complicated.

ok well simple public transport to Gosford, then a train to Lisarow followed by no more than a 10 minute walk but trying to catch a lift would be easier.

pull on your shoes and run, you fool! it'd be about 10-15k, fit right into your training schedule. good hill work available through holgate etc too. ;D

Don't like running to something I want to attend, it's a bit rude to show up exhausted and thirsty, not to mention I don't carry a bag on my runs, now if I rode a bike...
hmm might try it that way DJ, in my experience bumming lifts hasn't been too successful.

The whole 2 wheels thing, problem with my inner ear means my balance isn't good enough, wtf is with the thing controlling balance being in your ear? That and I never learned.

The whole 2 wheels thing, problem with my inner ear means my balance isn't good enough, wtf is with the thing controlling balance being in your ear? That and I never learned. OMG! oh, and the balance thing... nerd alert! inside your inner ear there is a series of channels and tunnels etc which have little bits of viscous liquid and jelly-like substances in them. when your body is tipped over, the liquids and jelly move as well and trigger tiny hairs in the inner ear which link to nerve endings. the nerve endings then tell the brain (simplifying this a fair bit) that the head's tipped over. when coordinated with the various kinaesthetic information the rest of the body sends about where the limbs etc are pointing, the brain can then give a pretty good picture of what's where, and whether you're upside down or not. as a side note, when you get drunk the little bits of jelly tend to swell and change shape (i think they absorb more water, but it's 4 years since my last neuropsych class, so forgive any f***ups) and stimulate the hairs when they shouldn't. this is what happens when you get incongruous information reaching the brain from ears (falling over) and eyes (but i'm standing upright) leading to muscles making bad decisions and you fall over. even worse is alcohol's stimulation of the GABA system of neurotransmitters, an inhibitory system that slows down the brain, leading to the brain doing things much slower. hence taking a moment to realise that your beer is actually over sideways and you're pouring it over your shoes. ...but you all didn't really want to know that...

I actually knew all that stuff about the inner ear, when it's f***ed up they tend to tell you what's wrong. It's not a massive deal outside of the constant tinitus.

Thanks i almost wrote that it's like a spirit level. problem is, it's not. that goes into the box of 'lies to children' - simplified, but inaccurate, descriptions of how the world is that help people understand how things work without necessarily being true. electrons being little balls orbititing a nucleus like planets to a star is another... EDIT- I should note that 'lies to children' is not my term originally, i don't mean to insult, it's just a neat way of describing it that i read in a terry pratchett book.
