How much is CCFA charging for the honour of representing Far North?
Pretty ridiculous the 15's and 16's having to book into a motel when they are playing at Blacktown. Most of these kids have just finished an expensive SYL season now have to fork out unnecesary cash for a motel. Maybe could have been put up in a motel for the first night as a bit of a "bonding" thing, but to do it for a week is over the top. Can't see the bonding necesssary either as they have played together all year. I hear parents have to also be present for the evening meal.

yeah thats bullsh!t. sure, when i had to go to parkes, it was appropriate. but to blacktown, thousands travel the hour and a half to blacktown everyday for work, it's not that far, and it's not that appropriate.

You think that's f***ed, last year the kid's that actually played their State Titles at Pluim Park had to stay at Motel on the Coast and pay for food. Apparently Mr Keech said it was because the cost's to all players both boys and girls could then be spread out evenly, but never did find out from the respective age groups going to different area's in NSW if they all paid the same amount or amount's according to their respective Motels and Dinners ?? Are players from each age group this year all paying the same amount?

"You are obviously not involved so why worry about the cost?" That seems to be exactly the point. Those not involved, who do not have to fork out the hard earned are the ones setting the agenda. They are playing in Blacktown, how would they have to get up at 5:30am? How come it is such a big problem travelling an hour before a game. Most of these boys have been doing it fortnightly for four or five years.

they are not playing in blacktown, they are playing at valentine. traffic is shit so in order to have time to get ready for 8am warmup, drive and eat, from the top end of the coast, where i live, it's a long drive and 530 is not out of the normto get up. if u r not a parent of one of these players, why does it matter to you that they get to have a trip away for making it into the state title team? u r not paying there fees and i doubt any parent would not want there kid to have fun. u need a life mate. all u post is negative crap about stuff u dont seem to be involved in or included in.

We must not forget, it's all about the kids. While the parents are a'whinging and a'moaning on the sideline about everything from the shit organisation, the crappy refs (at some of the venues) and the fact that Johnny Midfielder is nowhere to be seen, the kids are out there enjoying themselves. Believe me, they are...
And having been a critic of the Boy from Bondi in the past, I have to say there are some positives to go with the usual negatives. The kit arrived on time and is very smart. the boys and girls all look the part. Well, that was one positive anyway....!
As for living in a 'camp', I wouldn't have it any other way. The kids learn to relate with each other, it takes them off our hands and they have FUN (if the parents lightened up a bit they would too).
I can ill-afford the expense myself, so it's no rich-kid talking here.

I agree the kits look good. Also agree the kids enjoy living in camp. Not sure it improves their football

Lets remember 1 thing - if the kids enjoy it then that is what counts. I moved my son in sydney and yes I am a new supporter. Moved him because too many parents had negative comments to say around them which was unfair to these 13 yo. We aren't wealthy but I remember when I went away for the first time and it was a buzz. My parents scraped for the money but they wanted us kids to enjoy things they didn't get, and whilst the money may seem a lot, think of how many beers / wines we drink in a week, lotto we spend in a month, horses we gamble on in a month etc etc and then look at the cost of seeing our kids smile and what's worth more!!!.

Under 14 Boys particularly disappointing running last after winning 13's in 2005.
What does the Kincumber connection have to report Johnny? Surely the 2005 home ground advantage wasn't worth that much.

yeah, i thought that they would do well.
last year was a great effort for the then 13's and everything fell into place. as i was fortunate enough to get a winners medallion as well with being assistant coach with that age group.
but overall, this year we didn't follow up on last year. in bathurst this year we got beat by met far south nine nil the other day, but that team had been together since july and had played between 14-20 games before even starting the tournament. they were purely class and playing when playing them everything fell into place and they were white hot. up here because of rain and field/game schedules teams were lucky to get more than 6 games together, so makes it really hard to gel a team in a few weeks before hand because of the rain we had as well

The State titles can be viewed in a couple of ways I think. You could have the view that it's win at all cost, which brings it's own problems with players and parents, especially those that don't play many games and lets not forget some parents don't earn much up on the coast and have splashed out a bit of cash. Or you could have the view that it's an end of season comp, where the players should be able to go away, play football and have a good time. You tend to find out after the 2nd or 3rd day if you have a chance of winning these things. I'm of the view that, it's an end of year comp, let the players that have been chosen all have a chance at playing as much as possible and let them enjoy it.

I agree with the view that it is an end of season comp but one of our biggest problem is that our youth "the ones that remain here" play in SYL which is a far cry from premier. The standard is quite difefrent. As the years get on, then we will struggle at lattter ages. That is not to say we do not have quality players but a lot of them want even play because of coaches who have been there too long.

We have a lot of quality players who have chosen to play in Sydney for various reasons.
To play PYL rather than SYL Perception that the Balcktowns and Marconis have better coaches. Thought that their child will come under the eye of talent scouts more readily. Are disatisfied with the selection process on the coaast. Nepotism factor with fathers coaching their sons Have fallen out with CCF. Chasing trophies.
However to say it is because some of the Lightning coaches have been there too long seems inaccurate. Most of 2007 coaches have been involved for less than 3 or 4 years. You can't expect results from a coach in one year. It is developmental for them as well as the players.
Good to see CCF has identified the nepotism probelem for next season. It really isn't good for the team, coach or player.

Interesting that the link to this web page has been taken off the CCF links page, hardly surprising really, seeing as most of the time, although not everyone just wants to slag them off on this forum. Thought it might of happend earleir. For anyone who may have attended a trial this week with thier kids, they will have no doubt noticed the massive amount of numbers that are turning up and wanting to play for Lightning. I was there on Thursday night and the U11 boys had over 60 boys turn up to trial.
