boards rarely do that... diboh said something about the spending.... CCFootball did a lot of advertising for beach football and then it was a flop because the manger lost his job. wouldn't that have brought money in? you don't start a project in business hoping to lose more money than you spend.
It wasn't a flop because Keech lost his job, (he didn't lose it ,he resigned)
A full page ad in the Express Advocate cost $1000.00, multiply that by the 10 weeks in a row that it ran for and you get a bill for approx. $12,000.00, yes that's not a misprint $12,000.00.,a bill from my understanding has yet to be paid.
Now I'm sure even a Beach Football competition being run on the sandy shores of Brazil wouldn't even make enough profit to justify this advertising budget, let alone break even, let's not forget there would have been fee's to council for the use of shared public space , public liability insurance premium, ref fee's and of course the allocation of CCF wages to pay the employee to manage it.
So farpost I'll ask your question again for you, " Advertising Beach Football......wouldn't that have brought money in?"
Answer: (prophetically your own words) "You don't start projects in business hoping to lose more money than you spend!"
It appears f***-wit Keech and the BOD's at CCF do, and did!
I might be plain stupid to ask now, but where was the "strategic plan" for this project, at what meeting was it presented at & by whom. Who voted for it, who voted against it. Did it outline the expenditure for the program, the expected participation numbers, what information was used for the projection of participation numbers but most importantly the expected PROFIT margin after completion of this program.
Me thinks it was just a grand scheme to make somebody look good-great idea, justifies my position around here, regardless of the fact that it wasn't ever going to make money. And before anyone jumps on the "promoting football on the Coast" spiel, that's bullshit, it's the FFA's job to promote football in this country, not the CCF. It would have been cheaper to do clinics at every local primary school for kid's aged 5 to 10, if that was the objective, to promote fotball on the Coast.
Hell with the growth in participation numbers on the Coast we're getting to the point of not having enough grounds to accommodate those that are already playing let alone future generations.
Finally I would like to see the minutes from meetings about the future of the CCF, that are currently being held, to be made available as a pdf file ON THE CCF WEBSITE! Bollocks to getting them from your local club, put them on the CCF website for all members.
It's been mentioned to me by an individual that if they went and asked for these things from their local club it would create some animosity for this particular individual and certain members of his local club's board and he did't wish to do this because his child was in a team with kid's whoose parents were on the board and there were slight tensions in the team already that have stemmed back from the under 6's till now and he didn't want to escalate these problems. So how does an individual like this, who has an interest in the success of local football get his hands on accurate information about the issue. Put it all on the CCF website for all members to access and prospective members as well.
And when I say minutes, I mean the exact minutes. The biggest thing that disturbed me when first attending meetings at CCUFC was that minutes for these meetings were nothing but summaries and mostly in point form. There could be a question from the floor from a member about an issue, the board would respond at length, sometimes answering the question satisfactorily, most times not. Subsequent questions would then proceed from the same member or others and by the end of it what eventuated could be 10 minutes of extremely pertinent and valid dialougue between the members and the board and sometimes decisions being made to proceed or not to on specific issues.
What culminated in the typed minutes for anybody reading them would be a summary of what was said in that 10 mins, sometimes mentioning names of those who spoke, not always what they said, but mostly just bullet points. Its because of these things ACCOUNTABILLITY is very difficult to be directed at any one individual or a BOD's as a whole.
I made the suggestion to the then Chairman Geoff Eggleton that I could try and organise some sort of sponsorship deal with a local secretarial/business college like Passmores Business College where CCUFC was to have a yearly scholarship for their top student of say $500-1000 and a letter of recommendation for services provided. This student would be required to attend once a month to take voice recordings (or shorthand if they're fast enough) of our general meetings, which if chaired correctly, would state the name of each person before they spoke, this student could then type these minutes that would be an accurate record of what took place. It's the minutes of meetings that administrators and/or ASIC look at first.
I also have to ask the question why a third party hasn't been brought in to go over the internal workings of CCF in light of our current situation, which is not so much the fault of Lightning but the BOD's of the Association or the CCF as it is now known.
I was assured by a then Director at CCUFC that ASIC and the Dept of Fair Trading were going to look at the CCUFC after it's demise, sadly it never eventuated and I lost all faith in rep football and left.
This former Director of CCUFC also assured me he would have ASIC and DoFT look into Mr Keech as well for illegally chairing meetings attended by CCUFC members, despite the CCSA declaring it had handed back "custodianship" (as he called it in his correspondence) to the BOD's of CCUFC at the very end.
At the very last meeting held next to the bleachers on the training pitch at Pluim, Mr Keech (illegally chairing the meeting) took a motion (after encouraging all those there that it was the only option we had) to:
- Motion for a vote of no confidence in the then BOD's of CCUFC and all of them were to stand down. (majority won)
- Motion for CCUFC to file for bankruptcy and have an administrator appointed. (majority won)
Mr Keech assured all members of CCUFC present that as the GM of the CCSA he would make sure both of these motions would be put into place by the CCSA, giving us the assurance that the association was now back in "custodianship" of Rep Football.
Dept of Fair Trading were never informed nor recieved the legally required paperwork of CCUFC declaring bankruptcy.
An Administrator was never appointed to CCUFC, creditors had no-one to liase with for outstanding monies owed. Nor was ASIC given formally written notice.
This local association has always been plagued by corruption, it goes back to old day's of a "missing farm tractor" and has continued up until this point where we may have "missing or misappropriated $100,000's of dollars". The question is when will it end but more importantly when will somebody be made, here comes that word again, ACCOUNTABLE.
