Does anybody know why the CCF are advertising Football on 2GO I heard the add early this morning. ? Seeing the dire financial straits that exist I think it would be time to cut costs and concentrate on getting the kids on the park rather than blowing money on advertising. The sport is growing enough on it's own who will take responsibilty for this expenditure. ? As it is we may not have enough fields to accomodate the existing number of players, do we need to pay to encourage more players then turn them away.

It would be a contra-deal in which both organisations would be given exposure. Good on them for striking the deal as getting media partners is often difficult.

Good point about not enough fields though.
I wonder if anyone is starting to talk to Council about new fields and/or reducing the RL allocation.
Its all about supply and demand and is a real measure of the true growth of a sport

Its all about supply and demand and is a real measure of the true growth of a sport Perfect example is Sohier Park, Ourimbah. Both football and rugby are bursting at the seams yet the rugby league oval is hardly ever used. On top of that the ground is configured in a way that there are only two grounds on that massive bit of land. On top of that council does not want to spend $100000 to get the flat bit of land next to Sohier up to oval fitness. It is now just rubble.

Mick,
Who owns all of the land backing onto the fields at Ourimbah. Ever any development plans for that parcel?

Mick, Who owns all of the land backing onto the fields at Ourimbah. Ever any development plans for that parcel? Ourimbah Field? The section where the old sawmill is located is owened by Wyong Council. The gully bit across from Sohier Park is owned by the university. The sawmill is under a heritage order and those are significant bureacratic issues with the building and land if they want to redevelop. Council has been working on this issue for six years now while only progressing a little bit. The gully area has environmental issues, especially with a certain frog species that lives there. As you imagine there are is significant bureacratic issues there as well. On top of this there are issues with the RTA and how they will place and configure the connecting road from the enterprise/pacific hwy junction once the pac hwy is widened. So, there is the soccer club stuck in the middle of all these levels of government, with frankly, no hope of making any progress. There is talk, however, of relocating the rugby to Sohier Park, and for the football club to take over the rugby ground.

Saturdays there's a lot of space free at Mtns. Last season each Sat they played 2-4 games there, on average - between 2 fields.
We're definitely going to be seeing a lot of 'neutral territory' games, I think - especially when you've got areas like East Gosford being used to capacity.
the pressure's going to be on for the venues with multiple fields to use them. This will also be putting more pressure on clubs to ensure that those fields aren't trained on.
There are still bits of land here and there that are available - particularly in the Wyong shire.
Hey, what about that bit of land next to the railway tracks in Gosford, next to the skate partk? I think that's a cricket pictch, is it used for anything else? If not, surely that would be a viable option? Although I don't think Gosford need another field - yet - so if, hypothetically, that was opened, what could would manage it?
that's another problem with opening new fields as opposed to expanding existing ones.....are they going to come under the jurisdiction of an existing club (which brings a whole new set of problems in for the club concerned), or will new clubs be set up?
Umina number 5 (the full sized field next to the canteen) runs across the non-comp fields so they overlap, perhaps this is something that other clubs could look into? Of course this is only a short-term solution and it's no replacement for having the extra fields - within a number of years I daresay Umina will have too many players to be able to keep swapping half the ground from non-comp to comp in the middle of the day - but it's still a good option, and in particular DOES provide an extra full-sized field on Sunday.
also, when you look at the new comps they want to start - U/17, women's O30 - and is men's O45 still on the cards? That's going to take up a whole lot more fields.
Saturday and Sunday night games could be an option......again, you have issues of increased wear on the fields, paritcularly with the water shortages...
Also, are there any night fields which aren't currently being used, or are they close to reaching capacity on Friday nights?

The fields near the train line are Paddy Clifton Oval and are used for AFL.
Rugby to Sohier would be a good move for Ourimbah Football Club as development of current grounds seems a problem.
Is Kincumber getting new grounds or is league moving to these new grounds and football getting all of Frost.
Kanwals new fields have begun i believe.

kincumber fields will be the same as last year. money has ran out again from council and also from league in regards of the new fields being made for rugby league on empire bay drive. so that won't eliviate any problems that already exist at frost. we have 80 teams training on the fields. some two nites a week and all you get is a quarter of field for your training time at junior level. also i heard that council is spending like 20mil on the rest of the pat morely upgrade - softball/baseball, equestrian centre. so what gives - as for land down this way the old green point tip is still there on the base of kincumber mountain. apparently a lot of land that could be used to build fields. and as level 5 water moves closer it will really make it hard for all sporting clubs to use fields!!

Johnny I must say Kincumber fields would have to be one of the worst on the coast always dry and dusty - flat dustbowl in fact has that changed at all. ? We dread going to play their for that reason. Must be more vote's in the Pat Morley development, different council though. IMHO Wyong Council does a better job of maintaining and developing fields than Gosford, time to hassle your local councillor me thinks.

When things start getting a bit more desperate, would using schools be a viable option?
It's far from the most enjoyable place for football due to the lack of amenities (save going for a hike all the way into the school), but that would provide for loads of fields in reasonable condition....and they're already used for preseason. Many of these can fit 1-2 full sized fields, and a couple of non-comp fields.
