Do you play Football?

Judging by some of the well thought out topics & responses I reckon there are a few frustrated Footballers (wannabee Mariners
amongst us.

I see quite a few faces that I have played against over the years. 4 years on the coast and alot more in Sydney.

My question is:

Who do you play for and what position?

I'll start you off.

I play for Kariong and play anywhere across the back four although Right Back is my prefered spot.

ok i play for Metro Claremont and last year i played every position except wing and bench
My prefered position is right back but i am normally put in centre back cause we dont have any other good defenders.
i also was placed up forward and scored 5 goals in 4 games and i was awarded the "Coaches award" and i am travelling to gippsland (or wats left) to play against an acadamy team in march

i reckon alot of us oldies have probably played or come across each other in years travelled on the football field.
me - played for 20 years at epping ymca, played federation at castle hill and maroubra, coached youth league at melita and now last four years up here at kini.
been a great life playing football and so many friends. so lay it on the line and see if any six degrees of seperation happening also

well last season i played for the gosford 15c's and i played every position

gosford city 89-99, sydney uni 01-present. have played literally every position over the years, played all bar keeper just last year.

Gee we have alot of versitile players on this forum so far 3 people have played just about every postion last year. we are like the real mariners very versitile.

Played all age for Woy Woy 2005-06.

In my first year played striker for most of the season, but after only nailing 2 goals all year (with those 2 coming in my 1st game!) I was given a crack towards the end of the season at left or right back.

Played all of 2006 at mainly right back, with the occasional run in the midfield.

Played for years, for SEU then for Umina. With all that experience you'd think I'd have learnt how to play by now ;-) (that's why I took up coaching - those who can't, TEACH!! Also not coaching anymore...)

Don't play any more due to other commitments, but contemplating putting the boots back on.

Mostly played in the backs but I'd rather jump up in the midfield....played there a bit too.

My kicking boot is about as good as Kwassie's, hence me being a defender! I still end up in the forwards sometimes though....great fun playing there when you're not used to it!!

14s/15s/16s - Highfields Azzuri Junior super league
Seniors - 4yrs at Highfields Azzuri NNSW State league including two offseasons with Highfields playing National Youth league
- 3yrs at Newcastle Croatia Soccer Club NNSW State league
- 6yrs at Newcastle University Soccer Club where we went from Division five to NNSW First Division
- My 7th year at Ourimbah-Uni Football Club where I started in premier league and have worked my way down to All Age

I was a goalkeeper up to my second year at Newcastle Croatia where a shoulder reconstruction and a re-injury stopped me playing in goals.

Have been striker ever since with some appearances as sweeper as I get older.

16's 2006 Gossy 18's league champions and premiers ;D
2007 ? no football..sticking to golf

Positions played - mainly centre midfield with the occaisonal game at striker

played 13 years at terrigal.
Started as a central midfielder for 2 years.
Then after a match covering our 'keeper found myself in goals for 4 years.
Then the centre of the defence. Have played mainly sweeper for about 6 or 7 years, with an occasional glance at wingback.
And a match in striker
That said when i play futsal or indoor soccer or 6 a side i 90% of the time play up front. Though ive never played their for 2 matches in a row in full field
