Anyone who has had some involvement in the representative programs would probably be interested in this. The days of the "open try out" appear to have ended. In addition the coaching for the rep teams has also been addressed. Personally, i agree with virtually everything that has been written in the document. I would be interested to read peoples views. www.ccfootball.com.au/lightning/news/99www.ccfootball.com.au/lightning/home/Talent_ID

From all reports I have heard, Mark Boyd is highly regarded by his peers in the football coaching community and from my reading of the policy I can understand why. Talent identification, without fear or favour, is the priority and this process has a better chance of achieving that than the previous open trials or old mates arrangements. Last years rep trials were a circus. This is not meant to denigrate those players selected but many that attended should not have been there in the first place. The perception of those involved, players, parents & onlookers, was not positive and I am sure that talented players were missed or were burnt by the experience.
I hope that the coaching and development programs referred to are properly marketed and have sufficient places available. I note that the 'Strike Force' coaching program is scheduled for July school holidays in the lead up to Lightning selections. The private clinics have provided a product that was not available thru CCF in the past, so this may start to change that. Club coaches & committees will also need to be more objective and less parochial if they have the ability to recommend players for evaluation.
Hopefully the more professional approach off the pitch will contribute to the ongoing improvements on the pitch and long awaited credibility for Central Coast rep football.

I attended the youth licence course at the beginning of the year which Mark carried out.
I have nothing but respect for the guy. It was a magnificent programme and if anybody gets the chance to attend his courses it would certainly be to their benefit. I think the Central Coast is lucky to have the guy.

A long over due overhaul of the antiquated system.
Mark Boyd is to be commended.
The new system sounds very thorough and doesn't appear related to the cronyism of days gone by.
Hopefully Mark Boyd will over see the process and ensure this is the case.

Well maybe things in representative selections are not going quite as planned.
At least one particular club (and I don't know if there are others) was not aware of the player evaluation sheet which can be filled out by club coaches and following approval by a commitee member submitted to the CCF for consideration.
Lets hope the word gets around about player selection so that more kids get a chance at a future in reps.

This club that was not aware of the player evaluation, let's be honest here, there are clubs in the coast league that will not recommend players from their club for numerous reasons. Ultimately there will be players that could be suitable for reps, but because of their clubs antiquated ways, fear of losing their better players, the coaches son never got picked for reps last year, whatever, they will not send the evaluation forms in to CCF, so it is the player that suffers for something they have no control over. The evaluation process is much better for all concerned, however the clubs and more importantly coaches need to remember that the aim of the most players is to play at the highest possible level, so the clubs and coaches need to put their own agenda's and ego's on the back burner for the sake of the players, if they won't, it don't take a genius to work out what will happen.

All this talk is nice however, here is a practicle example and I could do with some help.
Young guy who is keen to represent, has had years of the cryoni system & has not tried out because of this. Is now interested in pursueing a career. He/we did not know about the changed system so missed again an opportunity potential.
If we go down the path of the thunder again he misses out be now he is 15 turning 16 next season.
Where does he fit now the system has changed and is developing. He is virtually at the cusp but doesn't seem to fit anywhere now.
He has the opportunity to stay with his current club and play 16A and have the chance to play up in priemer league when needed. Does he stay there and hope someone is at the game to spot him or the coach puts his name forward or does he change clubs.
Would really appreciate some feedback

OK marinermum speed is of the essence here as letters of invitation have already gone out. Download the following form and get your club coach to recommended the player and also signed for by an exuctive member as well. Player Identification Criteria.doc on ccfootball.com.au under lightning section. Good luck with this next option is to travel to Sydney or Newcastle for rep's.

Do not panic mariner mum, it,s possible a new elite club will be arriving on the Central Coast and playing in NSW Football youth leagues for season 2008, ages 13s to 18s.

Very ambitious project in a very short time frame. Form a whole new club ready to kick off in March. I presume Football NSW is relaxing ground criteria significantly, either that or major works must be in the pipeline at Mt Penang. So what's the latest, they will have a ready made 18's side but what else? How much expression of interest? Why the relative secrecy when what you need is publicity?

Nothing more to tell at this stage off the ball unless you missed reading the newspapers lately. But should we be approved then it,s all systems go. Step by Step just like chasing teams at the top of the league, you peg them back and then go for the kill.

May have jumped the gun here a bit please don't just turn up but let them know at info@fourfourtwo.com.au if your interested in going along they may need number's for seat allocation etc etc.
We have an invite via email - and no it is not a closed club we just expressed an interest early on.
Would be a worry if a few hundred just turn up on the night.
On another note most associations like the CCF have two to three rep clubs in their area so it's really about time we had our second one I think. Cheers.
