Does this tournament still exist?
If so, who organises it?
I had no luck by googling for it.

The Margin Cup, named after Barry Margin, who also has the Honor of having the Grand Stand at Pluim Park named after him, don't know much about the man maybe someone else can add, I'm guessing he's probably related to was it Brett Margin who was stull playing for East Gosford a few seasons back?? It is/was a tournament that was played over a long weekend (can't remember which one) where teams came from all over, interstate sometimes, very similar to the Kanga Cup in the ACT. Teams were made up of club sides, as well as friends who put teams together(like Dinamo Marinators ), church groups etc. Some groups motel'd it while others for a small camping fee had the option of being able to camp in and around the Pluim Park facility. This produced some heavy partying and drinking, which ultimately caused a few problems, fights, people playing under the influence, some having fun, some taking it 'dead-set' serious. These were some issues that were heavily thought about when the final decision was made to cancel it. It was, from my understanding, run by the the Rep club's of the day (Coastie's... then Central Coast United FC) and provided a tidy profit which went towards the 'coffer's' of the Rep Club of the dayl. I know of this, as when I was at Central Coast United FC (in it's final year b 4 going bankrupt, just like it's predecessor The Coastie's). The issue of still running The Margin Cup that year was brought up at a General Meeting in either 2004 or 2005, the club was in dire mismanagement, problems from past tournaments were raised and a decision was made not to go ahead, despite some deposits for team entries already being received from interstate teams, who i might add were mightily pissed off as they lost deposits on motels etc. The association, Central Coast Soccer Association (Mr Fcukwit Micheal Keech), took over CCUFC and then became Central Coast Football which then created and administered Central Coast Lightning, who NOW run themselves as a stand alone Rep Club.( FCUK it's like the Harry Potter series) and the tourney hasn't been run since and I think it's quite clear as to why. ;D Shame really, have heard of some legendary stories that can't be posted for legal reasons.

Damn! That is a shame. We used to get banned from a new caravan park every year we went up.
I remember one year a dozen of us went through 4 dozen long necks of home brew within 2 hours of arriving on the Friday night.
We phoned the late arrivals to pick up some more booze, but by the time the late arrivals made it to the caravan park we had been thrown out.
I slept upright in the passengers seat of a mates car in Pluim Park and woke up needing to be kitted up to take the field within 10 minutes.
Other players from our team slept in the grandstand ...
I guess we were part of the problem ;D

Ahhhh you never know, CCF are in sooooooooooooooooooo much debt $1.something million, that maybe, just maybe some intelligent person on the board of Directors will bring it back with a bit better organisation coupled with referee's issued with breathaliser's.

Rowdy Roddy is right.
There were teams who showed to the competition serious and fired up to win, and others were here for the piss up.
I can remember playing on the main field in the comp one day and my opposite number was hunched over the side line barffing his lungs up from the night before. It was a classic.
I can also remember in another game the sweeper had a tinnie in his hand and a fag.
I seem to recall the coasties entering the comp under another name one year. I forget what they called themselves.
It was a great weekend.
