FFA Media Release Thursday 5 May 2005 FFA CONCLUDES INVESTIGATION INTO FARINA INCIDENT Football Federation Australia today concluded its investigation into an alleged incident between national coach Frank Farina and an SBS television journalist after the match between Australia and Iraq at Telstra Stadium on Saturday March 26. The investigation concluded that the conduct of Farina during the incident in question was substantially less than what the FFA is entitled to expect from a person holding the position of the Australian national team coach. As a result the FFA has provided Mr Farina with a formal warning and required him to undergo counselling to prevent similar occurrences in future. The report into the investigation noted that the conduct of the journalist involved is ultimately a matter for his employer. The FFA has acknowledged that Mr Farina and the journalist involved have apologised to each other and have committed to working together professionally in the future.

Does anyone know what the argument was about? Must have been something pretty good if they have instructed Farina undergo counciling because of it!

I think the counselling is more for the anger management and self-control rather than what was said between the 2 of them...

Interesting, as he doesn't strike me as an outwardly 'angry' type of guy?

Interesting, as he doesn't strike me as an outwardly 'angry' type of guy? Apparenty he is....makes you wonder though, would someone like Sven Goran Erikson undergo counselling at the wishes of the FA, I think he would tell them, to stick the job up their arse.....

yeah, probably. Must have been something serious for the powers that be not to back him up though.

The questions weren't the problem it was the manner, time and place that was the problem fro Frank. Protocol wasn't followed and Frank got upset but he should have handled it better as the national coach then taken it up with the authorities afterwards.

I don't pretend to know too much about any of this... But why does our National Coach appear on Foxsports (this was around x_mas from memory) in a show with Robbie Slater and Ian Crooke, openly bagging SBS? As far as I am concerned, if it were not for SBS, no one in Australia would follow football...(well, I exaggerate for effect, but you know what I mean!!) I have watched more than my fair share of The World Game, and every so often they critique Farina's selection or tactics. Nothing over the top mind you, pretty std fare... If Farina cannot take this sort of criticism, imagine if he were in the EPL!!

I think there is very good reason he isn't managing in the EPL! ;D Would it be the same reason as playing Tim Cahill out wide every time I see him?? I mean, fair enough, trying to fit Bresciano, Cahill, Kewell and Emerton into a midfield line up would not be easy...but surely the answer is not sticking Cahill on the flanks...
