I'm at work and am tired and cranky after getting at 4:30am and watching the Socceroos then the Young Socceroos lose Ditto At least the Socceroos scored some goals, even if the defence can't friggin mark. The Young Socceroos played way below par, and tactically they were lost! Needs 200% better vs Japan. Or, Postecoglou out!

Gumpy looked 20% nervous 80% tired to me. When the other two were talking he was nearly nodding off. Great to see him there though.
Now for WT's professional analysis ;D
How many times did Muscat lose the ball!? And even though he has zero ability to pass he always tries for a complicated long ball, through ball or cross instead of just giving it to someone who has a clue like Skoko.
Popovic was terrible. Their second goal came from a corner that anyone else in the world could have prevented but he was too slow, cumbersome and unskilled and let the ball dribble out right in front of him. Then the marking...it's not that hard to man up in the box surely. I was happy when Poppa went off.
And Milicevic, while it wasn't a penalty, when you run in like that if you're going to be second to the ball there's always a high chance you're going to concede one. Inexperience?
While there were lots of other things, the main worry for me was the fact we went away in the second half. This is the kind of group situation we're going to have to get out of if we make the world cup and when Argentina is looming you have to be desperate for a point here. But in the second half they had a bit of possession then we gave up. No more passing in midfield no more possession it was just boot it long and hope.
Uninspiring changes as well. I was waiting for Viduka and we get Culina for Cahill? That's a defensive change Frank! If you dont know how to coach the least you could do would be to restrain yourself from having an orgasm when we score a goal.
rant over

Yea, no Viduka, thats worse than the youth persisting with benching Vukovic!
Give Gumpy some credit, he had a trip down the F3 and into SBS studios, at 3am! The other two 'didn't get out of bed' as Sydney FC would say.

At the end Les murray thanked him for driving down from the Central Coast. Don't know if that means he actually lives here or Les just assumed. I have a mate that works for Hyundai at Wyoming who swears he was in looking at cars a couple of months ago too

I think one of the really pleasing aspects was we finally have an out and out striker who knows how to score(I am a Viduka fan but Im growing old waiting for him to score regularly)Aloisi was tremendous.Agree with the defending comments WT. I didnt catch the young boys game WT your analysis please.

Unfortunately I didn't catch them either. We didn't start out too well so I let myself drift off to sleep for a while and when I woke up we were 2-0 down. So I turned it off!

Why would you commute from Sydney for training, I'd assume most of the boys live on the Coast, it's better than Sydney and it makes life easier. But he did thank him for driving down.

Bloody hell...I think this one feels even worse than the other day.
I think it's because it's hard to know what to think.
First Young Socceroos try their guts out and get heartbroken, then the Australian cricket team loses to bangladesh, then we get put out of the confederations cup.
I'd expected us to, but mixed feelings from that game.
South American sides, along with some top Euro sides, all have the kind of footballers that have more than enough strength to muscle the likes of Australia off the ball when it suits them, like Argentina did, and then go down grimacing theatrically under feather weighted tackles, and win free kick after free kick. Aussies simply dont go down under such contact. It's not our way.
If we started playing that way we'd have the media on our back about sissy sport, and probably rightfully so, but at the moment its the way we are getting beaten.
Also, we better get some good karma back in November from the refereeing in the last two games.

If this is how referees act to the South American teams in Europe imagine it at our away tie in November, I'd hate to say it but four more years.
I think we should be teaching our players to dive it looks like the only way we can win, What about the guy who went down clutching his face, give the man an Oscar. We should have had at least 2 penalties and their penalty was very dodgy.
Looks like the FFA may have to have a bribing budget, then we might get a draw. If these teams are SO good, why do they have to stoop to these levels to beat us. Moral victories mean f*** all.
