Because the A-League is going to be so good it will bring more attention to the good young players, that is why you won't keep them.

Kids are not longer going to leave Australia to go play divison 2 in Denmark. The likes of Sarkies and co. will stay untill the become the best players in the A-League before moving on.

Sound like you're underrating Sarkies, a minute ago you made it sound like he was good enough for EPL and now you say he's only good enough for Div 2 in Denmark (which would mean he's below par for Australia)

I think you misunderstand me. The point was unlike the old NSL kids are not going to league to move to average leagues overseas when the A-League is going to be at a higher level than ever seen in Australia. If a Leijer or Sarkies does leave it will not be untill he is one of the dominate players in this league and good enough to a higher standard of football.

I dunno I think these guys are pretty opportunistic,. and I think you have no idea what they kids are like. if a chance in a good league comes they'll take it,. If the are good enough to go to a German or French top flight then good for them, i wish them the best. The A-League set up means they wont be going to an average overseas league when the standard is good here

If someone came up to you when you were 18, and said I'll give you heaps of money if you come & play for us in this league. You'd go, not many would stay back, I don't think Melbourne will have the loyalty of the Mariners.

Very true omni it doesnt matter what leagues come in for them if the cash is there theyll be off and at the end of the day that is their profession same as in a normal job you go where the money is better unless you have morals or something rediculous.

You'd go, not many would stay back, I don't think Melbourne will have the loyalty of the Mariners. The likes of Clayes, Muscat & Kitchblitcher were offered up to 4 times as much as they are currently on to play for other clubs, yet they choose Melbourne. Our lads are as loyal as they come.

This is an impartial comment from the Gloryboys Forum:
I dont know why Melbourne is getting such a good rap. Their team is incredibly inexperienced. I would rate Central Coast and Newcastle as better squads.
I also don't think Perth's squad from 2000 was that great either. I think our side that won the 2003 grand final was the best we ever had.
Sydney's squad looks better than anything I have ever seen in the NSL (since '96 that means). I expect them to dominate. But I thought Parramatta would do the same tihng last year as well...

Just proving that if were dellusional everyone else but Melbourne is. I have friends who support Sydney & Newcastle saying that The Central Coast have been given a tough rap as a bad side who are under class and that they will come up and shock people. I have a mate who plays for U20 Marconi (played off the bench in firsts this year too) who says the the Central Coast are easily a finals chance and you'd be crazy to ride them off. Like I said anyone can win this league so why persist on saying that The Central Coast are rubbish. You must be reading The News Limited Paper out there (The Sun?)

I reckon the bookies know what their on about.
Pretty safe to assume the sides at the shortest odds are the better ones.
