Wonder what people thought of the SCC Friday night.
Thought, given their numbers, they put the Cove to shame.
They kept going all night while The Cove was silent for long periods.

It's easy to co-ordinate a small amount of dedicated, passionate people. That's why i think we do our best work away from blue tongue. We dont get the emo's and teenyboppers in the mix when were on tour.

We sing a song, then for 10 minutes you could hear a dog fart 5km away. Then someone puts a pin perfect tackle on 1 of our boys, and 2/3 of the bays yells for the refs head because they have no f***ing idea what a good tackle is, because they only hang out in the bay cos people think its "cool", and they are busy pashing on with some ugly trollop for most of the game anyway. Please oh please someone organize set seating in the back half of bay 16. And let me police it, please. (long day at work, just finished day 4 of 7, hate little pricks in my bay at home games, rant over)

Well on TV they looked very small but at least they weren't sitting down, always looked like they were singing and supporting sydney and they got more camera shots than the Cove so there not too bad.

Honest question: What is their motivation for separating from the Cove?
Are they rebels, rejects, or genuinely trying to create more atmosphere at the other end?
Either way, I agree that it's easy to coordinate that many people, which took away from the impressiveness.

With the SCC added to the mix and the NZ team actually having some fans the squadrunts are now the 9th best supporters in the league very similar to there team on the ladder. Good luck to the scc it can only make things more fun and improve atmosphere imo. What will happen at the kendall and games at blue tongue do you think there will be 3way banter or will they join with the cove on tour.

i thought they were ordinary.
very small numbers (~25 at most - less than we took away to sydney the first time in r.4 2005-6) , had some flags and banners and whatnot and they were in a spot where they get on TV every time the ball's at the southern end, but you couldn't say they had more impact on the ground than us, let alone the cove. if they were at the south eastern corner instead of the south western, nobody would have noticed them on the telly.
i'm not sure i actually heard them get loud at all, seemed like a bunch of kids waving flags and clapping hands. might need to get a little older before they get properly loud.
ahem, so anyway...
it's a bob stand mac stand split. flag wavers and 'continental' style vs 'english' style. a bit of the 'youtube generation' vs the 'crusty old 28 year olds' too.
if they grow in numbers and get a lot louder, then i might be able to see the point. if they were able to coordinate with the cove and try to spread the same noise around the ground, then that might make sense too. as it is, it's like a very small group competing with a much larger one. they're a sideshow to the real thing.
the cove do need to start singing for 90 minutes though, but i know from a lot of my mates who follow sydney that there's this pervading air of complete frustration in there for a team that seemingly refuses to play well...

Either way, I agree that it's easy to coordinate that many people, which took away from the impressiveness. From what I can derive off the Sydney forum, they wanted to embrace the continental/South American style of support, whereas the Cove is based upon the British style. Similar to the BWB and SDC being separate in Melbourne. *edit* Dibo beat me to it. Damn you Dibo!!! *shakes fist*
