That's the way it goes Out played all over the park is an understatement. Braazil's defence kept Deavanna quiet which showed if she can't skin you she loses her effectiveness to a large degree with the defence being much faster & more composed than any I've seen so far in the WC. However our front girls received nothing other than hit n hope balls over the top all game. Surely they must be under intructions to smack the ball from the back with the amount of times they did it & gave it away, often not under pressure. Midfield was out to lunch & the overall passing of the team was very poor. Great goal by Newcastle girl Colthorpe & great effort by the team to make the quarters.

To go down by 1 is a pretty good result for how much Brazil owned it. Still, an upset wouldn't have been out of the question with a few debatable calls reversed

There was certainly a gulf in class between Brazil and the Matildas.
Not a penalty, but I believe that had we equalised at 1-1 Brazil would have come back harder at that time and put us away earlier.
It was more arse than class to get back to 2-2, a lot of stars would have to have been perfectly in line for us to beat a team that was that much better without even looking that interested.
Credit to the girls getting that far, fighting that hard even after losing Cheryl, and learning a lot about the game no doubt. They will be better for the experience.
How many parallels between the Women's and Men's WC campaigns!?

For anyone watching the Brazil V USA semi, you were treated to a very talented display all over the park from Brazil.
They made the US look like a second rate team & are the only women's team I've seen to play the game very much in the style men do. Spreading the ball wide at every chance, switching play, possession, slow buildup & as hard as nails.
The striker Martha is some player. She knows she is many classes above & shows it in an almost arrogant confidence in her play.

I don't think Germany have touched the ball in Brazil's half for about 10 minutes.
