I think 'they', stadium management / security / FFA and or AFC were a tad over excited about what 'might' happen due to the fact that there is a large proportion of Lebanese peep's living in Aust, that and APEC was a week ago. They tried to put a bit of the apec fence around marinermum but the tongue-shrill scared them off.

a boozed up mob of rednecks chasing people around a beach. We're sokkah hooligans Dibo, on a mission to beat the living shite out of anyone who dares take us on....... don't you know this?? So sick of this stereotyping bullshit by the authorities - I'd feel more "threatened" at a rugby league game in Western Sydney than at a football game at around 98% of venues anywhere in the world. What do we have to do to prove that we're not out for trouble?? (getting rid of 105% of the conservative media might be a start)

I sent this off by email to the FFA: Hello
I need to get clarification from the FFA and if you could forward this email to the appropriate person I would be grateful.
At last night's Olyroos game in Gosford the following flag sold in your shop shop.footballaustralia.com.au/Supporter_Gear/Supporter_Gear/view.aspx was deemed to be illegal.
Security said that it could incite a racial riot and made an older lady (edit: sorry MM) seated next to me put the flag away.
Are you able to tell about the status of this flag being waived at internationals, especially one endorsed and sold by the FFA?
Kind regards Michael Kmet

Maybe we should all be banned from wearing team colours to games?
You know, better safe than sorry.....

Just got a phonecall back from a Joan at the FFA. Very lovely lady and took the time to explain things well.
She said that the flag Marinermum had should not have been banned and that security were overzealous.
She will make sure it doesn't happen at the next game.
She also said that at the moment the boxing kangaroo flag is banned but they are reviewing their flag policy.

And to think I copped shit for giving him "attitude", which consisted of me asking him a level headed question.......

To be fair, the guy did explain that he was just enforcing the rules as ordered down to him. Most security types wouldn't even bother to do that.
Ridiculous ruling wherever it did come from.

This is the older lady calling!!!!! OOPS I forgot, I'm not supposed to know how to use a computer. For the person who said rules are rules, idiot. Acceptance unwittingly of rules without thought or rationale is dangerous. Hence I never accept rules simply because they are. When we were in Melbourne some time back, we would not have waved our large Marinators Flag. It's nice Joan called you back however, when you bann, block of prohibit patirotic feeling, you can cause racial tension. Not one Aussie flag, but all Lebanon, how does that look to our guys. I understand meaning behind Qantas etc as it is an Olympic qualifier & no branding is permitted in any sport. But I could certainly in another country wave the boxing kangaroo, my soccer flag in all shapes and colours. I CANNOT WAVE THE SAME in my own country!!!! THIS FRIGHTENS ME, AND SADDENS ME. I wrote to the FFA also protesting this disgrace. All jokes aside, I was prepared to be asked to leave on principal last night. Why should I feel that I am breaking the law etc by waving my green and gold in support of MY COUNTRY. YES, I AM A PASSIONATE AUSSIE. ;D ;DThose lads, deserved to see our sporting flags held high, proudly for them! But alas, the FFA in its wisdom did not think broadly enough about the ban. The boxing kangaroo was born out of the America's Cup win- "I come from the land down under...." And represents all Aussies representing their country in any sport. The other matter is that we have no redress to talk with someone on the day if this happens again. Football is exciting because of the banter between fans and having been told, don't sing chants on the concourse, don't wave your flag here, don't cheer your team, and your not in the away supporter section show me your tickets. I'm over it and will argue the point of fairness/justice not blinded accept unreasonable rules simply because they are rules. Tell me when I buy my ticket if I can't be a true soccer/football supporter, because I will pack up now and leave the game!!! FFA get it right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
