Chelsea 3 NewC Utd 0..hahahah..and a great goal from Crespo!...hahaha.... After 2 losses in a row (thank god our only ones all season ) this victory was sooooooooo sweet, but Newcastle were so unlucky to have two penalty decisions denied them in the first 10 minutes!! Duff's goal was good for me ;D I'm not a huge Crespo fan

zzzzzzzzzzzzzz! who cares?!
As far as i'm concerned the premiershit doesn't exist. The players may be good but the football is boring. Not to mention the disgusting amounts of money that are involved, when there are still starving children in the world. That isnt football.
Abramovich should have spent his money on finding a cure for aids or clean drinking water for Africa and Asia- far more rewarding.

It's meaningless (bought) glory though isn't it? What is it to be a Chelsea supporter? With Grimsby, because you dont expect to win- its so much sweeter when we do. And the players are on respectable amounts of money (less than AU$1500 average per week) If any English fans deserve some glory it's Grimsby's. Too successive relegations is hard on any supporter.

As I said I'm going to support them WHATEVER, would you stop supporting your beloved Grimsby if a millionaire took them over?? You probably would and please don't rant on to me about starving children etc you don't even know me and what I have done in the past and present for the world's abused and starving childen I 'd probably bore you with the list.

I know what your saying Grimsby!
At the end of the day there is too much money in top level football. Gerrard earns a reported 80,000 pounds a week isn't it? Thats just shy of $200,000, that is just a stupid amount of money for a footballer!

Well, this thread got interesting, didn't it?
Being a Man U fan, I have no right to comment about money. I can see both sides of the argument (between chelseagirl and GM), but I couldn't agree that the EPL is boring.
Yes, being a Town fan would be great when you won. By the way, how close are the houses to the ground? Your avatar indicates that the ground is smack bang in the middle of a residential estate where all the houses are IDENTICAL.
How would you react, GM, if someone poured millions into Town and made them an EPL side? I'm VERY interested in your reaction to that one.
Red, love your sledge, pity it involves scouse gits!!
Cheerio, we're off to Germany!!!

i wouldn't want to see Grimsby in the EPL. Unless a drastic cap on wages and transfer fees came into place.
The proper footballing heroes were in the 50's and 60's- the Sir Stanley Matthews and Sir Tom Finney's of this world. They were working class men who earnt pretty much the same as the average man did, who didn't get paid during pre-season and had to find work. The average fan could relate to them and so they became heroes for the many. There were also no glory supporters back then because there was very little tv coverage- and so if you wanted to go watch football you had to watch your local team.
Grimsby used to get 20,000 regularly, now we struggle to get 4,000. Believe it or not we were once English footballing giants. In 1933 we finished 5th in the top division, beating the likes of Chelsea away from home regularly. I wish i'd been around then. Just look at where we are now.
I can't relate to any of the current England team- look at the lifestyles they lead. One thing i find strange about Steven Gerrard is the fact that he is a born and bred scouser, red through-and-through, professes to loving his hometown club- yet takes home £80,000 a week off them. Whats wrong with say £25,000?! He could free up wages enabling Liverpool to get better players. I know many of you won't agree with me on this point.
I can relate to Grimsby players- they are on an average of £500 a week and every week are playing to earn a new contract with mortgages to pay for.
Those type of players are the footballing heroes that English parents should be bringing their kids up to admire.
AM- it is mightymariner who has the ground on his avatar. It is surrounded by terrace housing on 3 sides and a small carpark seperates it from the houses on the remaining side. It is the closest football pitch to the sea in the UK (apart from obviously beach-football pitches!)
