poor Auburn Mariner...two blows in a week! Despite the fact that I have 'not loved' Man Utd since the age of 8, I felt a tweek of sympathy for them, or was it simply because an English team was eliminated?
And when did all the speculation about Sir A spring up?

No sympathy at all - now I just want Liverpool demolished in the next round and Rangers to win the CL!
2004-05: No trophies, so when's relegation coming?

'gers? ugh... leaving aside which side of the old firm we all prefer, they've got nothing! might not even qualify for the ECL spot next year! and liverpool won't be demolished, they are the champions you know. beating such lightweights as juve, chel$ki and milan on the way...

Rangers winning the Champions League.... thats even funnier than Man Utd losing. Having said that, as a Liverpool fan i hope we don't play them in the knockout stage as they could get themselves up for a 'Battle of Britain'

Liverpool don't deserve to be in the CL. They came 5th in England at least Gers earnt their qualifying spot for this season.

Yeah, in the spirit of why the competition exists Liverpool deserve to be there. It's gotta be the best clubs in the world.
Look at how fast Everton dropped out, it would have been farcical for Liverpool to miss a spot so they could waste one like that.

I am a Man U supporter and i cant believe they had a draw this morning. Alex Fergerson has to go soon, his time looks up. They better beat Wigan on Thursday

We are simply not good enough anymore. Chelsea are marvellous, point blank brilliant at times, and we cannot compete at this time. I have been supporting Man Utd for 31 years, and I won't back off because we are not winning. We still have the FA Cup, so hopefully we can something there.
As for Rangers, well I'm Catholic and proudly so, so I'll let you figure that one out for yourselves. Now if I could only convince Lawrie & Fergie!
I'm not a Liverpool man, but you have to credit them for their magnificent performances in Europe of late. I think that the EPL needs Liverpool in great form, with their rich history and winning pedigree. I also LOVE it when we beat them.
Man Utd has unashamedly copied 1970's and 1980's Liverpool in the last 14 years, when we won 8 premierships. Play total football, get the best players and support staff, and away you go.
Anyway, that's my 10 cents worth. I miss George Best, more than you know. I found it touching that Bear wore a black armband on Saturday; that young man has many admirable qualities.

i think last year 'pool had an off year in the league (and have continued that with domestic cup form this year) but have now worked out how to mix frankly average play sometimes with grinding out results. it's perhaps not like the 'pass and move' or 'sexy football' of liverpool teams of old, but it is putting regular points up which will keep the fans happy. there's a confidence and aura about liverpool at the moment that even chelsea can't overwhelm.
united however... it will go in cycles though, the only problem (for fans of the MU Rowdies at the GlazerdomeTM) is that the glazers might lose interest before the club gets on the up, and then we'll see another twice european champion sliding inexorably downwards (a la robin hood's not so merry men of nottingham forest).

Auburn: I'm very much protestant which just gives me yet another reason to not like Man U (and that other Glasgow side for that matter).

*sigh* And so the slide continues....... doesn't help when Ronaldo cops a straight red when he doesn't even make contact with Cole, but the way we've been playing lately, these sorts of things are bound to happen. Stupid Blues.
Anyways, we might have to content ourselves with the League and FA Cup double this season. Better than nothing I guess.

Better than nothing I guess. what a weekend for send-offs! just about every game had one. while I agree with his send-off, it was a bit unfair that the earlier foul on him went unpenalized. contact isn't necessary, only the attempt.he's appealing it but i don't think he'll succeed.
