4-4-2 With the wingers pushing up, i found Tyler Simpson who plays for Queensland Under 21's is a good right or center back and is only 6k and i got Mori for 1k plus some sengal guy who plays attacking midfield, i cant think of his name now but next time i play i will get the name for ya

Just got the game today for $75.00 at JB Hi-Fi, took the Mariners to 4th placing at the end of the H&A and a Prelim final game against Sydney FC, before being screwed by the ref with Hutch and Wilko sent off for double yellows. grrrr Interesting how you can get 34degrees days in July and only 19 degrees days in January ;-) Best advice I can give, get your scout scouting Australia asap..picked up some very handy players there, and got a Super sub striker from the transfer list Stuart Young, 8 second half appearances, 8 goals. CCM fans player of the year award goes to Nicky Mrdja

Yoo Sang-Soo was the name of one of one of my Asian pick ups. He was a versatile defender/midfielder for cheap. Rory Fallon I picked up as striker and he heads them in all day. Get Mrdja playing on his left and making loads of wide runs then cross to Fallons head.

Got to work on the FM2006 and set up the Grimsby Town Mariners! Playing in English league Div 2. Tried to get a few CC Mariners players over to the UK, but my scouts didn't reckon they could cut it in League Div. 2! Tried to get Froggy, but he wouldn't go over to the UK for 250 UK pounds per week! Laughed when I first saw his profile and it said he had a cold and was out for 5 days. Just learning the game at this stage, and I must say it's an impressive package. A lot of customisable settings, lots of searching the databases. If you go to the sigames site and check out the forums you will see that FM2006 has some bugs in it, so be aware that a problem may arise. Mine wouldn't start after the first session with it. No icons on the desktop or the program file folder would open the game. That's one of the glitches with the Safe Disc copyright protection that may happen. Tried all the suggested fixes from the site and no luck, so I went to the forum. Someone there suggested deleting the cache folder, which I did, and it has been working well since then. A subsequent cache folder appears after the next session ( but it doesn't stop the game from booting up). If I can survive a season in League Div. 2 (UK) I will "return home" and boot Lawrie out of the job! I wonder what all the players think about their profiles that are on the database? Overall it's a good fun game tho, just put aside a lot of time to get into it.

Good stuff Pete! Let me know how you get on with Grimsby.
For the other guys playing CC another signing I made is Alireza Mansourian (im pretty sure of spelling) he is a DM/AM R/C who cost 2k (he's old). But the best advice I can give is buy a big strong tall centre forward and a big strong fast centre back.

Ha ha, will probably end up sacked from Grimsby WT! The English Leagues have far more football, and a lot of players I'd know nothing about, so it's very hit and miss. Some OK results in the pre season friendlies to date but dreading the season proper. Would love to see Lawrie or Fergie play this game, but undertsand they don't have the available time due to doing the real thing!

Finished my first season. Won Pre-season cup. League Premiers. Runner-Up in Grand Final (to the bling ) Use a 4-1-2-2-1 formation with 2 AM, works a treat. Best players, Max Viera, Mori, Mrjda, Jade North, Heffernon and Gumpy. Best Buy, Jade North and Max. Get Max at begiining for a free. Sold Kwasnik. Mutual Termination of OGrady (had to fine over 6 times for no reason) and gave Petrie a free. I got an extended contract after 6 months and a transfer budget of $120K. Just entered Asian League. Won 1 lost 1. I hope the dates are not real life dates. Australian teams will never do well if they play in our off season!!.

Tried to get a few CC Mariners players over to the UK, but my scouts didn't reckon they could cut it in League Div. 2! The standard of football in England is very high Pete- even in the lower leagues. 5 professional divisions and 110 professional teams is the largest in the world.

Similar standard to the championship maybe division 1's better teams?
Players like Thompson, Yorke, Carney etc wouldn't look out of place in the premiership!

The players maybe, but the teams lack simple tactical knowhow all across the pitch.
Sydney's trip to Japan highlighted this with the goals they conceded.
I reckon A-League teams would get eaten up in the Championship.

i agree, they would struggle in championship, plus their squads are so small it would be hard to cope with things like cup football etc. i do think they'd go OK in division 2, where i've seen quite few games never progress beyond the boot down to the box level, individual players would do well in div 1 if they were a bit fitter but i can't see may making championship or premiership but it is hard to compare - Viduka stood out in Oz, perhaps after a few years of A-league there'll be more foreign players who have played in Europe who can give 1st hand comparisions.

They would be mid table in the Championship I reckon, of course it's lack of team awareness, these teams have been together less than a year. The standard can only imrpove!
As for going well in division 2 - please, 4 or 5 of the teams over here would be top 6, I watched this level of football for years, there's a reason why they only earn 500-800 pounds per week!

The squads are only small because they have to be.

yeah i think i muddled myself there a bit- i think i should have said league one that is the old division two where teams like Reading, wigan and god forbid even QPR were only a few seasons ago and wages can range into £1000s and up (and ferrari's have been spotted - at Brentford at least), that is where i think most a-league teams would do well as skill wise they are as good if not better and yes they would definitely go for promotion. Above that in the championship (which i have called div 1 + championship confusingly), against teams like Ipswich, Southampton, Leeds, Sheffield U etc i honestly can't see it happening, though i love thinking about it.
Perhaps a friendly between the Mariners and leeds could be arranged to sort it out
