Happy New year guys. May 2006 be bigger and better for everybody and of course, the Mariners. Shame to hear about the fires and some people losing their lives. I hope normality is restored soon and any perpetrators are hung, drawn and quartered. Back to the footie and i am pleased to say that the Mighty Mariners are 2 points off the top with a game in hand. Fortunately our away form is the best in the football league ( 8 wins, 3 draws, 1 defeat), otherwise we would be comfortably mid-table due to our shocking home form. Don't ask me how we have lost 6 at home having conceded on average less than 1 per game and having a goal difference of +10, because i couldn't tell ya. We should be pissing this league! grimsbytown.rivals.net/default.asp?sid=909&p=2&stid=8385834Good win for you guys NYE. Let's hope you make it to the grand final(?).

Who did you lose your away game against? Now come on DJ, you know full well who it was against. All those draws haven't helped you much, you're on the slide buddy. I can't believe you came back from 3-0 to lead 4-3 and then proceeded to lose!!

that's a close league - league one is the same 10 points separating 15 teams. it's difficult to decide who i'd rather see go up - would have to weigh up the cost/benefits of an way trip to Grimsby or to Wycombe - should be easy surely

Although you don't live far from Wycombe, it would surely be more beneficial to go to Grimsby and sample the lovely fish and chips.

Wycombe peaked to early I fear Grimsby, I hope I'm wrong and we should still go up but maybe not as champions, they drop 2 points in too many games! It's hard for all clubs in that league to keep up momentum with the size of the squads we have.
It was a shame to lose Nathan Tyson but that's the role of small club, groom the players and then sell them on to survive! Nice bit of cash thou, shame we have to give some to Reading!

Most people won't care I know but I had to post it as it means something to me. Mark grew up in the Wycombe youth team and loved the club!
Wycombe's Philo dies after crash Wycombe Wanderers' 21-year-old midfielder Mark Philo has been killed in a car accident. Philo, who made 17 appearances for the Chairboys since joining as a trainee, was in a two-car crash in Wokingham, Berkshire, early on Saturday.
Manager John Gorman did not tell his players about the accident until after their 2-0 win over Notts County.
He said: "He was a fantastic kid. He lived for football and always had a smile on his face."
A statement on Wycombe's website said Philo had suffered head injuries, adding that the player would be "sorely missed".
The gate at the team's home ground, the Causeway Stadium, is to be left open over the weekend for fans to leave flowers and tributes.
Police said Philo was taken to hospital after his Vauxhall Astra car was in collision with a Renault Megane at the junction of Sandhurst Road and Finchampstead Road in Wokingham, Berkshire.
Fire crews had to cut Philo and his two male passengers out of his car. The passengers were both unhurt. Police have not yet named the other driver, who died at the scene.
FYI - the accident happened with a 60 year old woman who died on the scene, both players and fans were told at full time
Mark Philo - RIP

Darlington 0-0 Grimsby Town Att:3928
The Mariners drew away from home tonight to keep up their impressive away record and intensify the pressure on leaders Wycombe.
An away follow of 500 is also very pleasing and with a long away trip (by English standards) to Torquay this weekend the Mariner's and their supporters will be hoping for yet another away win.

Now where have I heard that before?? Errrrrr, pass! I'm guessing you guys do. I really should check! Hehehe, yeah, we do - as far as I can recall, we're undefeated (a sneaky win, some quality wins, and no losses) away from home in the League thus far. And meanwhile, you've got me interested in Grimsby - I keep checking the results section of our papers every week to see how you're faring.

i saw nathan tyson for forest against Brentford the other night. he has incredible speed and was dangerous every time he had the ball - a much faster, skilful player than everyone else on the pitch - i'd expect him to be at a higher level in the future, one to watch
