I can exclusively reveal Schwarzer has tabled a transfer request, apparently something to do with a bust up with McLaren, looks like Spain could be the likely destination...

Well if there's any truth to that and he does go, for the love of god I hope he goes somewhere where he'll get almost guaranteed regular first team football between now and the WC.
Would be pretty nasty to have our 2 first choice keepers pulling out bum splinters.

BORO ACCEPT SCHWARZER TRANSFER REQUEST Mark Schwarzer has had a transfer request accepted by Middlesbrough. Boro boss Steve McClaren revealed Boro were willing to listen to offers for the 33-year-old Australia goalkeeper.
McClaren told the club’s website http://www.mfc.co.uk: “We are disappointed that Mark has made this decision but respect his feelings.
“In the football club's best interests, we have agreed to his transfer request and will listen to any offers we receive.”
Schwarzer joined Boro in January 1997 and has played 342 first-team matches for the club.

WOW!
He better get regular f***in football or the Sroos are in bad shape. I wonder who Boro will get in or will they give Brad Jones a more senior role? That would be great for Aus long term!

Some may disagree but apart from the socceroos game he's had an ordinary year, he's made a lot of errors!
He's easily replaced for boro!

I have to disagree Yellowbeard. He made a great save in Montevideo that kept us in the tie. Sure he almost gave away a penalty. I hope he goes to a good club and gets plenty of games.

Very surprised at the news, particularly with the world cup on the horizon. Makes me wonder if he jumped before he was pushed. Cant see him playing first team football for anyone else in the EPL. Come to the Grecians mark, we are a team on the up and would give you the hugs and love that you crave.....

Pompey moves to sign Schwarzer By Mark Jeffreys January 8, 2006
ENGLISH football's new Roman Abramovich is ready to step in and rescue Mark Schwarzer after the Australia goalkeeper fired in a transfer request following a bust-up with Middlesbrough manager Steve McClaren.
Schwarzer's move came after he was stung by McClaren's dressing down when Newcastle United had been let off last Monday with a last-gasp 2-2 draw. He was dropped for last night's FA Cup third-round tie with Nuneaton.
Brad Jones, the rising star from Melbourne, whom Schwarzer helped bring to the Riverside, took his place with the promise that the job was his and Schwarzer had to win it back.
Now Alexandre Gaydamak, Portsmouth's new millionaire joint owner, will come up the cash for his manager Harry Redknapp to buy out the remaining year of Schwarzer's Boro contract.
That will ensure Schwarzer's dream of playing for Australia in the World Cup is not jeopardised by a lack of first-team football.
Gaydamak, the son of a Russian-Israeli billionaire who co-owns Portsmouth with Milan Mandaric, has promised to fund the club as extravagantly as Abramovich does at Chelsea.
He has already smashed the club's transfer record with a £4.1 million ($9.65 million) deal to secure Auxerre striker Benjani Mwaruwari.
Gaydamak's spending spree is expected to top £20 million ($47 million) before the January transfer window shuts.
Schwarzer's transfer request surprised Middlesbrough and McClaren, though even team-mates reportedly could not believe the ferocity of the manager's outburst following Monday's draw against Newcastle, which edged the club closer to a relegation dogfight. McClaren looked set to taste victory at St James's Park for the first time in a Tyne-Tees derby when Lee Clark drove home an injury-time goal through a sea of legs and past Schwarzer for a share of the spoils.
What infuriated McClaren was the Australian's failure to properly deal with a corner from Nolberto Solano which initiated the chaos.
Schwarzer had earlier been beaten by a 30-yard free-kick from Solano.
An insider at Middlesbrough confirmed that Schwarzer was humiliated in front of his teammates and McClaren had confided privately that the club's longest-serving player had become erratic.

Brad Jones will pretty much be the first pick in goals for boro for the rest of the season. part of this was jones was given the keepers spot and Schwarzer was going to have to fight for the spot.
whenever Jones has had to fill in before last night he hasn't played bad games including games in the uefa cup

They will replace him for next year, maybe even this year if they can find a replacement in time!
