Not sure if anyone here has been following the story, but BBC reports that Southampton have officially turned down a 12M POUND bid from Arsenal. Theo is a 16 yr old striker who started playing the game 6 years ago. He has a record of 22 apps / 5 goals for the saints this term. Is rated a better prospect than rooney , for what its worth (15M to Chel$ki it would seem at this stage)

I read about him 2day. But what I read said he was going 2 go for 10 million. I hope the club sells him, for his future sake.

He is highly rated, but surely he needs to prove himself at some level before going for that much!

He clearly doesn't need to prove himself if clubs are willing to spend that kind of the money, who cares!

I think if this kid is going to live up to his potential he will need to be playing in the premier league, i dont think him being in the Championship will help him become a big star

Well Southampton must have had a change of heart because he is moving to Aresnal
Arsenal lands Theo Walcott SBS
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger that the signing of Theo Walcott is a 'big gamble' but says the 16-year-old will be allowed to take his time to settle in at his new club.
The Gunners paid Southampton an initial fee of £5million (AUS$11.8million) for Walcott, which could rise to a total of £12million (AUS$28.4million), even though the highly-rated youngster will only turn professional on his 17th birthday on March 16.
Despite the hefty transfer fee, Wenger says there is no pressure on Walcott.
"I hope that kind of pressure is not placed on the player but on me," Wenger told the club's official website. "He is not responsible for the money that we have paid and I hope I will stand under this kind of pressure, not the boy. It would be unfair."
"It is a big gamble. [But] you pay a bit more in England. He now has to adapt, develop and grow like any other boy of 16 without any special pressure."
"If he plays in three weeks, in three months or six months I wouldn't like to put him under that kind of pressure. There is no time-scale, when he is ready he will play."
"His attitude is predominant. What happens until you are 16 is because you are a talented player. Between 16 and 18 your mental state takes shape and that shows how much you want to be a special guy, how much you want to be the best and that is the next step."
"I believe he has the ingredients in his personality to be steady, determined and motivated enough to achieve that."
Earlier Walcott, who will wear the number 32 shirt this season, said: "I'm so pleased to be joining Arsenal, a club I have admired for a long time. Coming to Arsenal will give me the opportunity to work with world class players every day and play football at the highest possible level."
"It's a strange day, because I'm also very sad to be moving from Southampton. I'm leaving many friends and some great coaches who have been so important to my career so far, but I leave with many great memories from the club. I'm now really looking forward to meeting my new team mates and working hard as an Arsenal player."

That's a stupid amount of money for someone of his age, but I'm happy to eat my words if he stays at Arsenal for life and becomes an English legend!
