Sat 21st January- Torquay Utd 2-2 Grimsby Town Tues 24 January- Stockport Cnty 2-1 Grimsby Town Hello once again. Since my last update Grimsby have played 2 more away games (making it 3 consecutive away games), but failed to win any of them ( drawing 2-2 at Torquay due to them scoring a bloody last minute goal, and losing 2-1 to Stockport, them scoring 2 goals in the last 15 minutes). So, all-in-all, pretty disappointed with our recent form, with not only our home form going out the window, but also our away form now! Still, we're in 3rd place, and if we are still in that position come the end of the season, i will be a very happy man! Anyway, onto some positive Grimsby news. The planning application has now been put in for our new stadium in Great Coates. With some funding still left to find and minor opposition from a few NIMBY's, the new stadium is not yet home and dry, but it looks to be finally happening after 12 long years of trying! www.gtfcnewstadium.co.ukI strongly recommend watching the virtual tour. GM,
Will the current stadium get knocked down? How far is the ground from a railway station? Do you actually think that this will happen, or is it just pie in the sky talk?

Yes, AM, it definitely looks to be happening this time but our chairman has stressed that we need to get some big people behind the scheme such as local politicians and celebrity Town fans. It would be great if Chuck Norris got behind it!
It was included in the local councils improvement plans so it's just a matter of 'if', not 'when' this time. Estimations are that we'll be in it for the start of the 2008/9 season. I do love Blundell Park but i do realise that it is a crap hole and that we have to move with the times.
AM- Blundell Park will be bought by a housing developer and turned into a new estate.BP is currently 20 minutes walk from a train station but the new stadium will be a 5 minute walk at most.

Perhaps an overseas jaunt by the Central Coast Mariners to the new Grimsby Town Stadium is in order then!!

Maybe you could see a game at Blundell Park before it's knocked down aswell I'd love to go and see a CCM game but with being a first year uni student i don't think it would be likely to happen for a good 5 years.

What does everyone think to the virtual tour? I think it looks great- the only thing im worried about is it being another carbon-copy of some of the characterless new grounds that other teams have just moved in to. Anyway, we won 1-0 away at Notts County on Saturday to remain joint top with Wycombe and Carlisle. Have a look at the League 2 table to see how close it is at the top! grimsbytown.rivals.net/default.asp?sid=909&p=2&stid=8385834Here's some highlights: www.youtube.com/results?search=Grimsby&search_type=search_videosBloody hell- it's 3.30 in the morning and the fire alarm has just gone off! Bloody students!!

good luck with stadium, also you (and wycombe) are still doing well but as you say a super close league. brentford are also looking to sell off their ground for housing and would get an absolute fortune for it, the local council has already kicked in with loans to keep the club going but all sorts of problems getting planning permission as the ground has terrace houes all the way round - a good FA cup run will help

Yeah good luck to Brentford aswell. Grimsby have actually now set up an action group to help push the stadium forward and get it off the ground. Lord Mawhinney has also given his backing to the new stadium which can only be a good thing. In all honesty i can't wait for the project to start and to move into our new ground. www.grimsby-townfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/NewsDetail/0,,10417~780627,00.html -you may have to copy and paste into your browser due to the commas! www.gtfcnewstadium.co.uk

Hi guys.
Since i last updated you on the Mighty Mariners we have beaten Lincolnshire rivals Boston United 1-0 at Blundell Park but lost 2-1 away to Mansfield, a game in which myself and 736 other Grimbarians attended. Unfortunately our game on saturday was called off, in which case i could be talking to you as a supporter of the team currently top of league 2, but im not, im talking to you as a supporter of the team currently in 4th (yes it's that close!!)
This saturday we are at home to Chester City- a team who have lost 10 of their last 12 games- so we should come away from that game with 3 points, and possibly top of the league.

would be a nice synergy with Central Coast if they finish third (though i know you want them to win) looks like you have had the same home form as the central coast
