What a game!!! 16 yellows and 4 reds!!! The best part was when the referee started with a drop ball and Holland were expected to pass it back to the Portugese keeper. Instead they attacked towards goal and Deco took it upon himself to take the player out. Classic move... I think that this game was the dirtiest game in World Cup finals history!!

Sure it was a dirty game but damn it was entertaining. A shame that Deco got sent off, i was looking forward to seeing him against England.

The fans behaved differently. The match was in Nuremberg and I saw both on the way home at 12 in the night and it was very peaceful. The dutch are happy people and you wouldn't have known that they lost by looking at them
I heard some guys who watched it in the stadium, saying that they didn't know what was going on. They said they need to watch the whole match on TV again

am watching the replay now. ridiculous. both sets of players are just being plain dumb - not pulling out of stupid challenges, shoving each other over, deco's second yellow was the act of an impetuous 8 year old.
i hope england belt portugal as a result - bunch of nutbars vs bunch of reasonably harmless dullards? dullards all the way.

The referee lost complete control of the game and he just started flashing yellow cards around. I also thought a fight was going to break out.
Deco's 2nd yellow might have been childish but his first one was as well, he was just pissed off the dutch didnt give the ball back it was foolish challenge. there is no rule in the laws to state that the other team has to give the ball back it is just fair play so netherlands just played on nothing wrong with that it is just unfair thats all.
I wanted the game to go to extra time so we could see the ref lose control of the game even more, if it went to extra time i think the ref would have sent too many people off and neither team would have had enough players.

i think the dutch were expecting the portugese to kick it back to their keeper, and the portos said the dutch should kick it to them, so the dutch said we will just play it from here then.

But all in all, think the number of yellows was the refs fault. And his indecion early brought about the aggression, and ruined(for us dutch) an otherwise entertaining game.
Loved seeing Deco and Van Bronkhorst sitting next to each other chatting about the game after they both had recieved yellows. Was good to see.

good that deco got sent off, stupid little weiner. pisses me off something fierce, so over rated. quite a few yellows then. perhaps not as many would have been sent off if the ref took up Graeme Poll's new 'three yellow card rule'. hahaha yeah, great to see gio and deco sitting next to each other at the end there. shows that after all that goes on on the field is left on the field. good to see. dutch should have got away with that one, but like the aussies, didn't take their chances.
