I mean no offence to Melsy and Bearinator but what the hell was he thinking? I thought the whole point of leaving Blackburn was to advance his career and play Champions League football with a big club, not to try and narrowly avoid relegation. I would have preferred he stay at Blackburn if i knew this would be the outcome. I am really ticked off about this. The people advising Lucas - his agent, friends etc - have done him a huge disservice.

Boo hoo, cry me a river. A bit sad at loosing your captain are we??? Hammers are better that Blackburn anyway, so id see it as a step forward, not back.

Well this hasnt been confirmed yet. It's on Fox sports and the various papers but not confirmed on either A) Premier league official website or B) West Ham's official website.
Besides he probably be going there for 6 months, bag a heap of cash then he will prey for west ham to be relegated and move to Liverpool.

In all honesty, Wigan will probably pip WHU for the 3rd relegation spot.

Surely they wouldnt take him now? Wouldve been hard enough to win over the fans before this, given his rep at Anfield. Now it would be impossible. Good luck to the bloke. I hope he keeps the hammers up.

I cant see blackburn letting him go. It is reported that the transfer fee offered is only 1.5 million pounds and blackburn want a hell of a lot more then that.

It seems that the only people who think he has signed for West Ham is the Australian press and lets be honest, what do they know.... If this is the same Lucas Neil who played so well for Australia in the World Cup, the same Lucas Neil who played so well against some of the best players in the world, why on earth would he want to sign for West Ham. After the World Cup, obviously when he realised he could compete with the best, he let the footballing world know he wanted to leave Blackburn and play for a club where he would get Champoins League football yera in year out. Can someone please remind me and should probably remind him, when West Ham were last in the Champoins league. This is an all to common practice these day's of what some players find as the motivating factor of a professional footballer. MONEY. To be RICH. Does it really matter when your already getting paid an amount a week, what some people earn in a year. If it's true he will sign for West ham because they offered him more, will he be any richer in 15 or 20 years time, I doubt it. If a team like Liverpool or as rumoured Barcalona are in for him, it wouldn't really matter how much money they offer him, because at the end of the day, with win bonus's, points bonus's, sponswerships etc etc, he'll still end up getting the roughly the same amount as the reported $125,000 a week. But he'll have the privalige of Playing for top team. Again If he does sign for West Ham, when he's retired people will not remeber him as Lucas Neil the West Ham player, or the best Australian player at the 2006 World Cup, they'll think of him as Lucas Neil. THE STUPID MAN, the player who could of had it all. Me, If I was in his shoes, I'd of been learning Catalan as soon as I knew Barcalona were in for me, playing with some of the worlds best every day, should mean more than any amount of money.

Will he be richer in 15 or 20 years. Hmmm, let me see. An extra $20,000 a week, over even half a year if the hammers get relegated, well look at that, its an extra $520,000 for half a years work. If they do get relegated, he would more than likely get picked up by a massive club anyway, I doubt his reputation would suffer by playing in a team fighting relegation (look at lampard, cole ect). So yeah, picking up an extra $520,000 by playing for the hammers sounds real stupid huh And lets say they dont get relegated and he stays. His contract is supposedly for 3 and a half years, if he agrees. Thats an extra $3,640,000, as apposed to the alleged Liverpool contract offered. Yeah mate, his manager is a real dickhead for advising him to go to west ham And your comment of "when he's retired people will not remember him as Lucas Neil the West Ham player, or the best Australian player at the 2006 World Cup, they'll think of him as Lucas Neil." Is just pathetic. Do people think of Lampard and Di Canio the same way??? No. One is a LEGEND at Chelsea and the other is one of the best strikers the premier league has seen. Its a 6 month contract if they get relegated, and if not, with the money and young players the hammers now have, they will be dangerous next year.

Bearinator, Lampard and Cole, Ferdinand etc etc started out at West Ham, they moved on because, they probably wanted to play for a bigger and better club. They didn't go backwards, they didn't move for money, they moved because a bigger and better team came in for them. A club where they will be playing with better players and a team where, as shown, they have become better players. As for Di Caneo everyone knows his talent and at that time, a lot of clubs wouldn't touch him with a telegraph pole so I think that's mostly down to Harry Redknapp being the man manager he is. As for the money side of it 1/2 a mill for 6 months, so what, when you've already got millions in the bank. This is exactly the kind of thing I'm talking about, when players are getting that kind of money, football goes out of the window, he's rich, he's gonna be rich now, he's gonna be rich in 20 years time, how rich does he need to be. I'll put in to more basic language. If he does sign for West Ham, and lets face it, most people will think it's for the money and he'll either be known as a greedy so and so, or he'll be known as a bottler who didn't go to a bigger and better team with bigger and big game players. Maybe, he's not as confident as he was after the world cup, maybe he thinks West Ham are on the up, maybe he is seeing something no one else on the outside does. But at the end of the day, when he left these shores to go over there, I'm sure he went with the best of intensions of playing for biggest club he could on the biggest stage and in the biggest stadiums in the biggest comps. When I think of these things, West Ham do not seem to be in that catagory. The Boleyn Ground, commonly known as Upton Park is not a place that comes to mind when I think of "great european encounters" between 2 of europes elite teams, not in the modern era of the game anyway, 30 years ago, maybe. Again he's the one who told Blackburn he wanted to play Champions League football. As for West ham being better next year, only time will, for sure, they'll be a better team with him than without him, but the real question is, will he become a better player with them or without them..

Im not doubting they left because they may have wanted to play for bigger and better teams. I simply brought to light your comment of "when he's retired people will not remember him as Lucas Neil the West Ham player, or the best Australian player at the 2006 World Cup, they'll think of him as Lucas Neil." It will do his reputation no harm at all to play for West Ham. He will either get released, or be a f***ing hero for helping the team from relegation. Hence my comment of "Do people think of Lampard and Di Canio the same way??? No. One is a LEGEND at Chelsea and the other is one of the best strikers the premier league has seen", as both of them played for a team in the relegation zone, and are they just remembered as nobodys, like you think Lucas will if he plays for the Hammers. No. Conversation over. Point made.

Lucas Neill has reportedly agreed to join West Ham, spurning Liverpool because they could not guarantee first team football.
The Australia international has confirmed he will move from Blackburn in an interview with Sydney's The Sunday Telegraph.
The report claims the transfer is worth £1.5million (AUS$3.76million) while Neill will earn £60,000 (AUS$150,212) a week with the Hammers, twice the salary on offer at Liverpool.
Neill said: "It wasn't about cash - that didn't come into it. It was about being wanted. West Ham were knocking down the door to get me whereas Liverpool made a take or leave it offer and didn't even come in for me until 15 days after the transfer window opened."
"People who have raised their eyebrows at me for making this decision are in for a surprise because West Ham have a shopping list of players which almost blew me away."
"People have said I put money before medals and how could I make a sideways move like this and not go to a club like Liverpool, who are always in the hunt for trophies and so much prestige."
"It was an extremely hard decision but I know it's the right one. West Ham moved heaven and earth to sign me while Liverpool gave me the impression that I might not even get a game if I went there."
"I supported them as a kid and I know people are going to give me stick for not choosing them."
Neill was persuaded to join West Ham by chairman Eggert Magnusson.
He added: "It took me all of two minutes to be convinced I wasn't making a mistake when Mr Magnusson told me about his plans for the club."
"What he said almost knocked me off me feet."
"He told me I'm the first of many (new signings) earmarked for the club."
"I can be part of something big here. West Ham are very well supported. They just happen to be at the wrong end of the table at the moment but I hope to play my part in helping remedy that."
"They were two minutes away from winning the FA Cup final last season and have not suddenly become a bad team."
Neill claims he has a get-out clause built into his deal should the Hammers be relegated and admits: "It's a calculated gamble. It won't be a glamorous three months but once we secure safety people won't question my motives any more."
"I believe I will have the last laugh. People will soon be talking about West Ham in a very different way."
