The carabinieri are a bunch of fascist sympathising thugs, the sort of people who join the police so they're allowed to beat people up
On a tangent, I don't know why UEFA don't throw Italian teams out of Europe for 2 or 5 years like they did with English teams in the 80s. Pretty drastic but might make everyone involved in football pull their finger out and fix the game

The Roma incident has also forced the Italian FA to delay the return of crowds to Catania games.

Given the trouble in Sevilla. And the nature of travelling english support, I dont think you can only blame the police here. In the wrong yes. But not the only ones in the wrong

Given the trouble in Sevilla. And the nature of travelling english support, I dont think you can only blame the police here. In the wrong yes. But not the only ones in the wrong Well, I would say the English fans know what they are getting themselves into when they go into an arena abroard like that these days, and some may be there to engage in some activities that they can no longer get away with in England. It'd be idiotic to suggest otherwise of the little cherubs. But fark me, regardless, you take a look at this video and it's fairly obvious what happened, and it's exactly how has been reported in most places. ie, a large stack of Roma fans rushed the glass and pegged shit at ManU fans, about 20 ManU fans reciprocated, so about 200 riot police decided to belt the living shit out of the away ManU fans whilst a bunch of friendly fleuro-shirted ground attendants tapped the Roma fans on the shoulder and gently asked them to move on. www.youtube.com/watch?search=&mode=related&v=oYikreK6ng4 Yikes. There's been, what, 20 English fans stabbed in Rome over the last 6 years, one fatally.

Here's a post I made last year
The European Parliament is pursuing allegations that Middlesbrough supporters were attacked without provocation by police in Rome. Two fans -including Cleveland Police Authoritys chairman - said police also stole from supporters who travelled to Italy for the Uefa Cup clash with Roma. Trouble flared ahead of the 15 March game when gangs targeted English fans. A European Parliament spokesman said it would try to get a response to the allegations from Italian authorities. David McLuckie, chairman of Cleveland Police Authority, and fellow Middlesbrough fan Peter Green flew to Brussels to address the Parliaments petitions committee.
They are demanding an apology from the Italian Football Federation and Rome police. According to Mr McLuckie, more than 3,000 fans were caught up at some stage in unprovoked police violence. He said: "If I hadnt been able to produce my police authority identity I dont know what would have happened. Fans were being beaten up and the police were actually stealing private property - not money but perfumes and other items, from the fans. Everyone was fingertip-searched on entry into the ground, and the police behaviour was just appalling."
Mr Green told the MEPs he would also be seeking compensation after one of his sons was stabbed when he was ambushed by Italian thugs. He claims Italian police failed to take a statement from his injured son and that they have not investigated the incident. MEPs also passed the written submissions of the fans for further inquiry to members of the European Parliaments Civil Liberties Committee. On Wednesday evening, a Parliament spokesman said: "We have only heard one side of the story so far, but the European Parliament is taking this further and seeing if we can get a response to these allegations." Also One of my mates was stabbed twice in the chest and hit in the back with an axe, whilst protecting his 14 and 12 year old sons as the police watched Italian hooligans attack 2 pubs full of Boro families. After 5 minutes the police joined in and attacked the Boro fans with batons. SCUM OF THE EARTH!!!
PS the Italian authorities still haven't responded to the European parliment
