Terry Butcher has been named as the new manager of Brentford, who have just been relegated to League Two. The former England captain will take charge on 7 May, two days after the final game of the season at Tranmere.
"I'm thrilled and delighted to be here," he told the club website. "I was impressed by the board and the chairman and their plans for the club's future."
Youth team coach Barry Quin has been in temporary charge since the departure of previous boss Scott Fitzgerald.
Bees chairman Greg Dyke said: "We are delighted to have obtained the services of Terry Butcher as manager.

He's getting closer to the level of his incompetence - when they get relegated down to the Conference. (Apologies to those who support teams in the Conference, this comment wasn't about their teams' standard of play, rather that Butcher has put himself up as a supercoach when in fact he's more of a local park All Age level sort of coach.)

not expecting quality football - a win would be nice. All the teams relegated to league 2 last year look to be heading straight back up, can't see Brentford doing it though.
