Glad to hear that you're enjoying yourself, one day I'll see Florence after studying it for a month at uni I really wish I could get there, sounds wonderful.
Keep enjoying your travels, I've almost caught you.

hola amigos
I am currently in Barcelona. We are staying the in the university student residence that includes a hot buffet breakfast for $50 a night a room.
Jose is coming in an hour's time and we are going to the Esponal v Zaragosa game at the Olympic stadium. Awesome coincidence that his team is playing the time we are in Barcelona.
It will be his turn to show his team´s away support.
Unfortunately Barcelona are not playing at home this weekend as watching them at Nucamp (sic) would be awesome. This should still rock as it is Jose´s team.
He is then taking us to the Ramblas for paella and sangria.
Italy has been sensational. From Rome we went to Assissi which is an incredible ancient town built on the side of the hill. We then went to Venice. The two days we were there it rained constantly and it was very miserable and cold. Still fascinating even though the whole city stank really bad.
We then went on to Slovenia and Croatia to meet up with relatives. The was cool and they fed us constantly and gave us their home made wine which was senational.
We then went on to Verona and then Asti - home as Asti Spumante! We did´n't drink any as there were some incredible wineries in the area.
Everywhere you go in Italy there are vineyards. The guy at our B&B in Asti told us that Italy produces the most wine in the world but hardly exports any as they drink it all.
We then went on to Cannes which was so so and then down to the wine area around Perpignan. Wine was so good and cheap here with the average bottle around A$6. We are now stocked up for a while.
Driving in Italy has been nuts. I got the car 190km ón the autostrade but didn't want to push it any more. Even at this speed cars were zooming past me!
The roads in Italy are awesome. Basically straight with plenty of bridges and tunnels.
France is a little different as you have to stick to the speed limits. At least they 140km in some places. The tolls here are a joke. From Cannes to Perpignan we paid 34 euro which is about $55. That distance was about the equivalent of Sydney to Canberra!
Anyway, things are going well here. Still not homesick which is good.
Talk to you all soon.
Mick

Mick sounds like you havin a great time. I'm sure Jose is reciprocating your hospitality you showed him while he was here.
He was a top bloke and an honary Marinator while he was here. Please send a G'Day from myself to him, hopefully will remember me from the Kendall and the Bay. I remember when he rang his mates back home the nite of the PSC Final and told them he had a ticket and they couldn't believe he only paid a lousy $10 for it...."I love your country"

Ah, yes Jose, please remember me to him Mick! I was the one who intro'd him to John Crawley and the two spent a good 5 minutes rattling off in Spanish, hopefully talking football and not the size of the bar girl's attributes. ;D I think he appreciated the fact he could talk his native tongue for a while and not have to consciously think of how to say what he meant.

Jose was an absolute legend - I think his whistling will go down in Marinators folklore. Top Bloke.
