Mundine said at his press conference that he was 'already the greatest athlete ever'. What a tosser. This is why people don't support him.

Yea he looked like a tosser as well wearing his gay suit and his top hat. He might be half decent but he is too much up him self for me to support him

Mundine is an arsehole, as people have said not normally into boxing but I'm watching this. I met the Green Machine a year or so ago, he was a great bloke and really hated Mundine. It'll be interesting to see Mundine fight someon who can actually beat him. I'm a greater athlete then that boofhead Mundine.

Christopher,
No, you are not. Mundine is one of the best multi-sports athletes this country has ever produced. League International, World Boxing champion, oustanding basketballer (was head-hunted by the Kings).
Forget the trash talk and hype, he has a serious Ali complex. Mundine is a superb athlete, as is Green, who can really throw 'em and is NOT the bloke you want to bump into in a dark alley. They have both put boxing on the map in this country.
I'll watch on pay-per-view, or with my Mariner mates at CCLC (there's a BIG night, sports fans!!!).
Cheerio,
AM.

well this aussie thinks mundine's pretty good at what he does, talks it up in the way that boxers have to to make money, and doesn't think mundine's any worse than danny green on the whole 'up yourself' thing.
he played state of origin, was unlucky never to pull on a kangaroos jersey, played in 3 grand finals (arl 1996, superleague 1997, nrl 1999), won a world boxing title and defended it...
he's at least got a bit of cred. he's achieved more in sport than most would in 2 careers.
he's got a mouth that gets him into trouble, but he's also been teed up for it a few times, most notably in 2001 after the WTC attacks, Today did a (pre-recorded) interview with him for something like half an hour waiting for him to say something outrageous. for half an hour they poked prodded and jabbed at him, until finally he gives them the 'terrible' quote they were after, which they ran with and ignored the rest.
he's a sportsperson, not a diplomat, sometimes he walks into trouble, sometimes he's pushed. i still like him, and i hope he gets up.

Mundine-Green fight on hold (Green is running scared more like it ) By Grantlee Kieza March 22, 2006 THE Anthony Mundine-Danny Green superfight at Aussie Stadium has been postponed until May 17 because of a freak back injury to Green. The West Australian broke two veterbrae last year sparring in the US but believes his current injury is not connected. Doctors have ordered him to have complete rest from training for two weeks. The fight, which is expected to attract a capacity crowd of 48,000 fans and generate at least $5.5million in purses, was originally scheduled for April 19. Green has experienced crippling back pain while training over the past few days after suffering nerve damage while training with a medicine ball. The injury has caused back spasms and stomach cramps. "This injury has nothing to do with my vertebrae," Green said last night. "I damaged the nerves near the top of my back about a foot away from the original injury. I've done the same exercises with a medicine ball 1000 times and it's just a freak injury. "The pain I was going through in training was excruciating but I thought I could come right. "This is such a huge fight that I have to be 100 per cent fit and I don't want anything hampering my performance." Green said he was desperate to return to peak fitness for a bout that will likely draw the biggest live crowd for a fight anywhere in the world for 2006. Mundine is training for the fight at his father's hometown of Baryulgil, near Grafton, in northern New South Wales. Main Event, which is expecting its biggest ever pay per view sales from the fight, says the injury will only give it more time to sell the bout. "Everything will go ahead as planned, said spokesman David Spenser. "When the fight happens it is going to be huge."

There always seems to be an injury in a fight that mundine is in, usually it is mundine who gets injured. i think they are just trying to build it up more
