no probably more the opposite because they can play injured, and make their injury worse, but not feel it as much during the game?

no its not illegal. you can get a needle in the pain to help to play. greatest sporting tragedy of a pain killer in the wrong spot - Graeme Langlands

Caffine is off this list these days, painkillers are certainly fine.

Good Question.
I occasionally take Nurofen to overcome calf or shin pain from overuse and so be able to run better on the field. I even worry about that. It's not gratuitous use but is it a genuine medical purpose?
But to take 12 of anything though, regardless of whether it's legal or illegal under sporting rules, it sounds positively harmful...I suppose when the stakes are higher so is the pressure to resort to more desperate measures.

Pain killing injections are not performance enhancing. All they do is numb the area where the pain is. By taking these injections, you are not enhancing your performance if you were not injured. You are simply getting back to the same level of skill you had when you weren't injured.

but was it 12 painkillers over a week? or was it an " i feel sh*t today, so i'm going to eat the entire box"?
I really cant believe that you have have 12 painkillers and play *better*.
