Hi team,
I'm looking at internet for my new locale, renting behind enemy lines.
Because we don't need a phone line, we've looked at stuff like Unwired, but also heard that this is dropout city.
AAPT has something with bundled phone line and broadband for $68 per month at 512kbps and with 12Gb download.
This seems pretty good...anyone with them or know what they are like?
Or should we go Telstra phone line and get a cheap TPG broadband plan?
The forum is often a good way to canvas a wider opinion and only users will know what these options are like for reliability and value. Please help!

I have a back-up dial up with iinet, and they keep spruiking about their combined phone broadband - www.iinet.net.au/products/broadband/Is there copper wire for a phone to the dwelling? I have no idea really as we are in the early adopters test area - broadband since 2000, and Marconi Girl was lucky enough to get a place already cabled at North Ryde (Oz's answer to Silicon valley).

A friend in St Leonards is quite happy with Unwired. He downloads heaps of movies, TV shows, etc.

Im with Telstra. $70 per month for unlimited, but as we have the home phone AND mels mobile with them to, the internet is only $35 a month for the 1st year (2 year plan). And once that years up, ill call and complain about how shit their service is (which its not) and how we get cut off all the time (which we dont) and spring them for half price for another year, which you always get if you complain enough with these big companys ;D
Also, if your getting fox put on, it will all become cheaper again.

check out bc.whirlpool.net.au They've got some good broadband forums on there, including one just on AAPT - could be a good place to get opinions on AAPT, and another on general broadband, could be a good place to ask your sort of questions.

No I don't mate but by co-incidence I am on the verge of switching to them, because I Iooked around and they appear to be the best on offer. I'm looking at the 1500K, 15GB plan bundled with a landline, which doesn't only appear good value on both fronts but has a $0 net connection fee, something none of the others have. I too would like to know if AAPT's net service is ok. I've got Fox too so I could probably bundle something with Telstra, but I hate them.

I 'm not sure if we have that plan, but at least something similar. For me there have been no problems with the net service with aapt... broadband has had no troubles either.

I'm about to hook up with it, the net bundled with home phone.
I don't think you'll find too many ISP's around here offering 1500K with a 15GB d/l limit for $49.95. On top of that you get no connection fee, no lock in contracts and a free modem. Or for $99 you get a wireless modem before the end of June. The phone plan looks perfectly reasonable too.
Although Brett, you may want to suss out the standard rates that kick in on the phone after the quota is used for local calls, which only apply to calls within a 50km radius, if you're in Sydney. Although it still looks ok.
