Why don't boys/men, cut their sandwiches?

I've noticed they especially don't like cutting them parallel to the sides. If its gonna be cut, they seem to prefer diagonal, like a toasted sandwich maker does.

Why don't boys/men, cut their sandwiches? Because it's a waste of effort, creates more washing up and we will quite happily use two hands to hold an overflowing sandwich together. If you want us to have cut sandwiches you are more than welcome to cut them for us, at which point you can cut them anyway you like (jigsaw is good), but if we are the ones making and eating the sandwich it won't be cut. Do you cut a burger in half? whats good enough for a burger is good enough for a sandwich. Why are pre packaged sandwiches cut and why diagonally?

Why don't boys/men, cut their sandwiches? You know sexism is not allowed on this forum. The answer of course is - 'cos they are not YOUR sandwiches. Most men have bigger mouths - physically not perjoratively! I don't cut mine only when the filling is liable to get loose - like salad, or corn, etc. I cut square usually as they slide into those little plastic bag thingies better. BTW - was this a cunning plan to get the Google ads off religion and onto food?

It's not a sexist question. I've just noticed that mainly men, don't cut their sandwiches.
Dru - I actually do cut a burger in half, sometimes in quarters if I'm being heaps girly.
Pre-packaged sandwiches are cut so you can see the filling. As to why diagonally, maybe as it's more aesthetically pleasing.

Maybe prepackaged sandwiches are cut diagonally so they can be stood on one side to show the filling outwards. Sometimes when they are cut diagonally you feel like there's more crust, though.
I also cut burgers but I wasn't gonna say anything, just in case y'all thought I was a nutcase. ;-)

Why do people actually buy pre packaged sandwiches? The diagonal cut bugged me when I used to work at the twin servo at Wyong and had to pack(place on the display shelf) these blights on society. would have to be one of the most ineffective way to package an item and required the sandwiches to be restocked way to often for my liking. I get the seeing the filling thing, I'm just not convinced that does you any good. How can you really be sure what that green thing is there calling salad is? Thought? we knew already

honeysoy's right on the prepackaged sandwiches - i buy my lunch most days [read: i waste money on shit food when i could have made something decent myself with half a second's forethought] and sometimes buy pre-cut sandwiches [answers dru's question], and i'll look at the fillings to see if they look alright - the diagonal cut means you can see what's inside all the sandwiches when they're sitting on a tray in the fridge, and they're still efficient to pack into boxes as 2 together make a little rectangular prism which when packed in with many others fits neatly in boxes.
and whether it does you any good? meh... how does being able to see the bain marie chinese help convince you it's edible?

oh, and to answer the original question - 2 reasons. we tend to make simpler sandwiches i think, with less falling out, and when we eat them we've got bigger hands anyway, so we can hold it all together.
the diagonal cut in sandwiches you make yourself (rather than bought) is so you can hold it all together pretty much by pinching the two long crusts and the bread essentially forms a pocket, rather than having a two rectangles deciding whether they're either halves of a tube or halves of an opening book, and leaving you with beetroot or some other mess in your lap.

Clearly, you are imagining things, cos Patrick gave me a pack of wings, a coleslaw and a lemonade. Alternatively, you may be confusing me with FISH, who ate a burger (maybe a Zinger) and was sitting opposite you. I'm not sure how I should feel about the confusion.

I wish people would confuse us on the field. I saw someone try to tackle him in a game once. They collided, the guy was slammed to the ground, Fish hadn't moved. I don't have that kind of skill yet.

Being an immovable object isn't ALL skill.
I don't cut sandwiches because it's a waste of time. It's all the same once on the inside.
