Carefull Mick. Your starting to fit the baby boomer profile. Grey hair, crook knees & a cranky temperament are just around the corner.

Dibs: I agree, don't vote don't complain! Democracy is a great thing, everyone's voice is equal, which may seem scary but it's actually great. Given you mentioned US Politics (and I'm hijacking the thread) what do you think of Ron Paul? Feel free to ignore that last bit

Does Ron Paul have a brother named Les? Otherwise I have no interest (guitar joke, sorry).

Dibs: I agree, don't vote don't complain! Democracy is a great thing, everyone's voice is equal, which may seem scary but it's actually great. Given you mentioned US Politics (and I'm hijacking the thread) what do you think of Ron Paul? Feel free to ignore that last bit From Wikipedia: Ron Paul has been referred to as a conservative, a constitutionalist, and a libertarian. He supports free trade, sharply lower taxes, smaller government, states' rights, national sovereignty, and a non-interventionist foreign policy, advocating a withdrawal from NATO and the United Nations. He voted against the USA PATRIOT Act, the Iraq War Resolution, and the Military Commissions Act of 2006. Paul supports reduced government spending, opposes the debt-based monetary system and seeks the gradual re-introduction of hard currency in the form of gold or silver. As congressman, he states that he has never voted to raise taxes or to approve an unbalanced budget. He has called for the abolition of the Internal Revenue Service and the federal income tax. Paul describes himself as "an unshakable foe of abortion" and opposes capital punishment, stating that individual states must be allowed to decide such issues in accordance with the 10th amendment. Hmmm... so basically he wants to get government out of everything except women's uteruses. How 'bout no.

My office is down at CQ and to be honest apart from the ugly fence and buzzing of choppers we've not really been that affected by the submit. I've not even been stopped and asked for my pass never mind have my bag searched - it's all a bit of media hype me thinks....

I just went down to CQ via train and walked around. As has been said in media and by friends it's actually a bit of a ghost town down there. Falling short of trying to climb the fence, I attempted to look suspicious but still didn't get questioned, searched, or probed in any way

I've had to send techs into various areas of the "closed off area" including the Opera House, and apart from it taking longer than usual, its not too bad... its mainly vehicles that they are trying to restrict, so I've had techs find parking out of the city and catch taxis in closer.

Ghost town is right - it would seem that many people have taken the opportunity to have an extra long weekend - perhaps they are all on there way up to Suncorp?

I think these guys are some of the funniest men in the country. (Especially Chas and Andrew)!!! I can't believe they actually made it that far, and the question needs to be asked how furhter would they have gotten if Chas didn't jump out dressed as Osama Bin Laden. Here is a news clip I found on SFCU which explains exactly what happened. LOL!

Not about being funny, they put themselves into a potentially dangerous situation what would of happend if the American secret service got hold of them instead of the police? Or a genuine terrorist got through while police were dealing with these drop kicks.

Thats the risk they take to make us laugh. They know the risks, its not your job to worry about the situations they put themselves in, its your job to either watch the show, and have a good laugh, or not watch it. Simple.

Or a genuine terrorist got through while police were dealing with these drop kicks. er... right. i think what the chaser very adequately demonstrated is that a terrorist wouldn't have much trouble getting a car through regardless. i mean come on, hire cars. tv cameras. fake passes. a fella dressed up as osama... does this mean all a terrorist needs to do to get close enough to do serious damage is look like he's pulling a gag, or simply that our security patrols are *seriously* lacking. the chaser boys pulled a risky stunt, sure, but to blame them for exposing extraordinary holes in our security is akin to shooting the messenger - if security was halfway competent, it'd never have happened.

It does reflect on the security measures and whatnot, if the chaser boys could get in then it shouldnt be to hard for some terrorist mastermind or similar.
'So far the APEC wall has been succesful in preventing any of the visiting world leaders form escaping.' heh heh love the sideshow.
