Seven reporter bashed outside NRL venue Email Print Normal font Large font September 10, 2007 - 5:56AM
Advertisement AdvertisementA Seven Network journalist was tackled to the ground and punched by two men on live television outside Olympic Park, following the Melbourne Storm's NRL qualifying final win over Brisbane.
Reporter Ben Davis suffered minor injuries in the attack, which occurred as he did a live cross to Seven's Brisbane news bulletin from outside the Melbourne stadium at about 6.20pm (AEST) yesterday, police said.
Police said a group of men was involved in the assault.
One of the men tackled Mr Davis, pushing him to the ground, while another punched the reporter in the back of the head.
The man who tackled him was wearing a Brisbane Broncos guernsey and was described as caucasian, aged in his early to mid 20s and about 180cm tall with short, dark hair.
The other man was described as being about 30 years with a shaved head, solid build and tattoos on his arms.
Police have released images of the two men, which was captured by Seven's cameras.
Melbourne Storm defeated the Broncos 40-0 in the match.
The crushing defeat revenged the Storm's grand final defeat at the hands of Brisbane last year.

Not pretty for sure, and the offenders should get caught and charged. But I bet there's going to be more adverse publicity about the flares and rubbish that happened in Melb v Adelaide game, than the NRL, the Broncos and their supporters will end up getting.

Surprisingly the media have been very quiet about the flare/trouble during and after the Melb./Adelaide game - I was honestly surprised when the Sunday Telegraph didn't have a "SOKKAH HOOLIGAN SHAME" headline with a picture of Lazio Ultra's on it......
