(Not sure if this is the right section but anyway)
With both the Wallabies and the Kiwis bowing out last night, I couldnt help but wonder whether Rugby can now be considered our 4th football code?? (Behind AFL, NRL and HAL).
Look at what the next 4 years has in store for them on a domestic level. Super 14 (yawn) and the worlds most half assed "national" comp that must be bleeding $$ to a massive extent.
Their national comp makes the NSL look popular and if you were a sponsor, broadcaster who was reviewing their spend, the game wold be much less attractive now.
The Phoenix guys have struck gold too and I suspect they are clever enough to take advantage of it.

Lots of facts and figures about tv ratings, sponsorship dollars, etc would be needed to determine the pecking order tbh.
My take on it from general media coverage and talking to people, I'd say we're 3rd with rugby 4th.

im with brett i think we are third, had the wallabies won the world cup we may have been under attack, but with the australian rugby championship proving to be an almighty flop and the wallabies bowing out to england again in a world cup where only a handful of teams are any good, youd have to say we are the 3rd most popular code... with afl being first and nrl second... in terms of avg attendances we are not far behind the nrl, however they have 16 teams and we have 8

Funny seeing the NZ response, some people burning All Blacks stuff on the street.
"Things All Bleak for All Blacks"
