news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=306782&rss=yesNick Cave dreading his ARIA induction Monday Oct 22 13:53 AEST The Australian music industry may be ready to embrace Nick Cave with an induction into the ARIA Hall of Fame this weekend, but the iconic musician isn't returning the love. The 50-year-old singer will attend the ARIA Awards ceremony on October 28 where he will join some of Australia's best known and loved performers in the Hall of Fame. But he will be a reluctant participant. "I'm actually dreading it to be completely honest because I have to go to the ARIA Awards," Cave said. "That's something I've been avoiding for 25 years because I think it's so f***ing tedious. "But I think I'm allowed to come in the back door, get inducted, however, they're going to induct me, and leave and go and get a kebab." Cave denied reports that the ARIA board had been offering him a spot in the hall of fame for up to six years and he had repeatedly declined. "No, I've never been asked actually," he said. "They just asked me this year and I said yeah." The prolific songwriter left Australia in 1980 and now lives in Brighton and Hove in the south of England. He is back in the country touring with his new band, Grinderman, made up of members of his other group The Bad Seeds. But asked whether he was keen to catch up with any of his contemporaries at the ARIA Awards, Cave responded dryly: "Yes, I'm desperately excited, I'm extremely excited to hang out with Powderfinger." ---------------- hahaha burrnnnnn I saw Nick Cave/Grinderman on Sunday night at the Enmore, and all i can say is that has to be one of the best shows i have been to. Any Cave fans here? Grinderman anyone?

First heard him when 'Red Right Hand' was in an X-Files episode way back when....... subsequent exploration of the rest of his discography showed me how good he is. Really good to listen to at 2am in the morning when it's raining. How delightfully emo of me.

How delightfully emo of me. to quote from a truly awesome movie remake of a truly awesome book (that i should dig up nd re-read sometime): "Why is 3am the designated time to get depressed, put on Nick Cave and try to kill yourself? Why not the middle of the day when everyone is awake and ready to call an ambulance?"

MySpace is generally reserved for emo's and their quotes - you pulled out an emo quote, blah blah blah. Get with the youth culture Dibo, it helps you win votes.

Get with the youth culture Dibo, it helps you win votes. reread the quote (and maybe read the book/watch the flick), sonny jim. no way in hell is that an emo quote! on the contrary - it's taking the piss out of people who listen to music and get all dramatic.

Hence why I threw up the Myspace gear - I was in turn taking the piss out of it's entire existence - that is, an excuse to be emo. Seriously though, get into the youth culture, it will help you turn their minds to the 'left' earlier.

Being the dance nerd I am...
Sydney Dance Company are doing an encore tour of their production "Underland", which is done to only Nick Cave music and it is AMAZING.
I wasn't really into Nick Cave much until I saw this. It was brilliant, and anyone looking to see a performance that just fits with Cave's music, really should try and see it.
