The "Skull and bones, skull and bones, skull and bones..." chant on Sunday got me thinking about how non-descript the Mariners logo is.

The "Skull and bones, skull and bones, skull and bones..." chant on Sunday got me thinking about how non-descript the Mariners logo is. Not to mention marketing ops... We could hand our sharp bladed swords on the day...ooh .. um...let's rethink this... But the theory is right.

EXTREMELY marketable Lazza! Can you imagine all the kids coming to the games in the '3 point' hat, eye patches and bandanas?

The Nickname of Bristol Rovers in England is 'the Pirates' and they are shit and speak like twats so I don't really wanna be a Pirate!
But I didn't vote at all so it wasn't me!

Hah, funny you should mention that... my mate is from Bristol and he was saying they would kill him back home for waving the pirate flag, being a City fan and all...

Bristol City ain't they the robins? or is that Swindon? But yes City and Rovers fans like each others blood, I remember quite a lot of trouble at 1 of their games about 6 years ago!

I love the Jolly Roger flag that flies proudly in Bay 16. Some of the Marinators had bright yellow t-shirts with the Jolly Roger on them too. Let's take it even further! Bandanas, eye-patches, silly hats ...
Don't forget that Monday 19 September is International Talk Like A Pirate Day (http://www.talklikeapirate.com/). We'll have to do something special for our away match on Friday 16 September against Sydney FC!

Know where you're coming from DJ, however isn't that like some 'ethnic' groups bringing their 'homeland' bullshit with them?...Don't we (here in Oz) have a go at those who do that kinda stuff? Being a ManU fan all my life, one of my best mates here in Oz is a man city fan...( who would have thought!) gotta let go and embrace the new ! "Bring it on me hearties!!!!"Aahhggrrrr!

We wouldn't be called the Pirates anyway! We'd still be Marinors!

Hey Skull,
My son went to a birthday party last year where everybody (parents included) had to dress as pirates.
I went to my local pharmacy (Fountain Plaza, Erina) and bought a black eye patch there for just a few dollars! Added a bandanna, a big hoop earring and a striped t-shirt, and looked pretty good. Not hard to do!
