My wife spoke with some guy in Newcastle today who mentioned that a group are heading for tonight's match to support the Marniners and they are bringing drums along.
Old hands at this know that drums can make or break a vocal supporters group, depending on how they are used. Some fans hate them, others think they add value.
I'm middle of the road, and think they are OK if use to enhance the vocal side of things, not drown it out. It comes down to the talent of the drummer to avoid overdoing it.
I suspect that drums at the Newcastle Uknighted Zits were one reason their vocal support attempts have never recovered from the loss of the Rowdies. They had drums that banged on incessantly to the extent they were boring and annoying.
I suppose these guys have the local security guys to deal with too, so may not even get them through the gate.

yeah i agree celery. VERY touch and go. Normally the bigger the vocal support, the better the drums!!
Heck, we just may have to give it our all!!

No drums tonight. Perhaps they went the same way as Adz's flag - confiscated\banned?

I was going to bring a drum to the CWC games, but was told that they would not be allowed in the stadium...oh and I was also told by a Marinator that they would shove my drum up my arse if I played it near them!

I hope the owner of the horn didn't have meningacoccal. I did wake up this morning with a headache, but I assume it had more to do with the alcohol than any life threatening disease.

Loved the horn!!!! "Shaun Pollock's" attempt wasn't the best but others let out a fart that would have made an elephant proud.
Hey GoldenBoy, I think it was the alcohol, cause I had a headache this morning too, and I didn't blow the horn.
"Give me a D"!!!!

Yeh the horn was awesome!
Drums if they are used right could work well. A whistle would be pretty easy to get into the stadium and they sound alright sometimes just to get a bit of a rhythm going.

NO whistles guys please! You'd love a whistle to distract Crawley from covering a shot, only to find it wasn't the ref but some dickhead in Bay 16. A single horn or drum can indeed be useful, BUT ONLY if it supports the singing and works withl the leaders - not over-ride it. Best to try singing before we introduce instruments.

Yeh good thinking, best to just stick to a horn or drum but it would probably take a bit of practice to find the right balance.

I remember someone saying they will nick whistles off you if you blow them in the stadium, easy to get in, but they'll take it off you first chance they get.

really stupid to bring whistles
i also don't like the idea of the drum unless it is one person who works with the chants
the drums sometimes drown out the chants with too much bass

I do not like drums, but that is me. Whistles have no place apart from in the ref's mouth or shoved down his throat at the end of a game .
