There was a stage when it wasnt started for months, then it took one wanker to start it again and its back. Next year anyone trying to start it should recieve a "DICKHEAD" chant, and be "politely" told not to start it ever again.

Now there is a reason to bring back the 'dickhead....' chants. Sometimes we can get a little tooooo politically correct! So, Bring back the DH chants!!! ( next stop.... bring back beheading!!! heheheheh)

I think that chant may have come from basketball, not football. t come from an album entitled "Worlds Worst songs"....the follow up from "worlds most irriatating songs" which it also featured on ...along with "What About Me" by Shannon Noll and any track by Jet. In reference to the youngsters...some goon started the celery chant, so i immitated him while exaggerating his lack of enthusiasm. when was the last time that chant was done? isnt it an old newcastle chant?...not a mariners chant? he did it as if he was going to fall asleep. But...im constantly picking out kids who are obviously not doing anything and saying 'oi! you! start a chant or something and get your mate to join in! get into it!' and i also spent a couple of games in the middle with the randoms....theres alot more singing than u think, but its their mates who just tagged along who stand (or sit) with their arms folded that are causing this 'hole'. once we get these kids going, it will b sweet... because even the families all over the stadium are starting to do the odd chant.

It doesnt matter if they are lil kids or adults.....the people that piss me off are the ones who start "lets go mariners lets go".....WORST SONG EVER. Should not be heard ever again. this was sung several times when the rest of us were standing around in sullen silence the other night. shithouse song, but we shouldn't bag the singers, we should just teach them any number of other songs.

I just though I'd point out that it isn't necessarily the young ones standing in Bay 16 in groups not participating in songs...
Also, one benefit of 'Let's go Mariners' is that it is one of the few chants that actually gets picked up by the side bays....

AAAAARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
No, it isnt the chant we want the side bays to sing.
Liverpool have a chant that is easy and could be sung by all round the ground and it is Li - ver-pool (repeat ad nauseum). Watch the next game and see if you can pick it up. Ma-rin-ers would scan

Just like they do with: * Syd-ney * New-carrrrr-sul * Queen-sland-errrrrrr * Ma-rin-ers! * Tards *cough*

No, it isnt the chant we want the side bays to sing. Surely singing SOMETHING is better than NOTHING??? I remember in the grand final last year, 'Let's go Mariners' was one of the few chants my bay (bay 5) would actually bother with....

I dont mind if th side bays wanna start it themselves and sing it.....but it should NEVER be sung in bay 16.

now it is the offseason lets work on having flyers to hand out which has the behavioural rules of the area (you know what we are trying to achieve in that area) - bay 16 and also a list of songs and chants that we do.
obviously we don't want to put people off coming in there and singing, but just so they understand that there is a bit of a standard that the marinators have in there
and stipulate that the lets go mariners is a definitely a not on. (definetely a basket ball tune - like defence - defence cha cha cha)
maybe with a bit of guidance for the newbys and youngen's it can grow and songs fall into place.
have to agree about shanon noll as well
