Hey everyone
there is a potential opportunity to get an article in the local newspaper about the Marinators.
this chance comes from a print media assignment require an article to be written about your local area. if the article scores a high distinction it will be pitched to the local newspaper group and has a chance to be printed.
The point...
i'm researching.. i believe that there is a lack of coverage of football in our local paper... i believe that there is a need for the central coast to get behind their football team... i believe that if the article scores a high distinction it will be accepted by the newspaper because of the amount of money put into the mariners club by the Central Coast tourism industry.
What i need from you...
Post on in this thread any issues you want to get out into the local area. i was thinking about focusing on the number of women supporters but any issue you want to raise about the mariners club would be welcome... problems with sponcership, lack of support etc.
any help in this area will be great for both the marinators and to my assignment.
Thanks
Trip

Not meaning to burst your bubble, but the Marinators have a weekly article in the Central Coast Sun Weekly.
Even so, good on you for choosing the Mariners/Marinators with this project. Good luck.

Heres a couple of point for you.
News in any format is ranked because of its overall importance i.e. a murder of a young child would rank higher than a shoplifter at the local store. Further ranked by popular appeal.
These are two points I would raise first the Mariners are by any measure the major sporting team on the coast. They play in a national league have a combined eight Socceroos & Olyroos. Further they wish to create and build a Football Centre of Excellence in Australia, which would put the Central Cost on the Map to coin a phrase. Further is successful they may play in the Asian Champions League thus showing the Central Coast to 100's of million football supporters in Asia. This can also be illustrated by the number of international matches being played on the coast now.
My second point is the other codes in the Central Coast are very local teams. The rugby league teams compared to the NRL teams are just not in the same class, so to AFL andrugby.
Maybe another point is Football is played by males and females whereas most of the other reeported codes in the local press are male only.
In summary National League side with maybe Asian exposure, compared to local teams in other codes played at low levels compared to the national teams, and finally it is a game for both male & females.
Hope it helps and good luck in getting more coverage
