What I've heard with respect to Jamie McMaster and playing for the English youth side is that he was in a training camp for the Scottish youth side and Leeds pulled him out and forced him to commit to England. That sounds about bloody right, greedy Poms ;D

According to the FFA website Jamie is currently playing in Denmark for AGF Aarhus with another former Leeds and Aussie boy Shane Cansdell-Sheriff.
Maybe this is the other mysterious lad at the mariners training session.
OOooooohhh the intrigue....................
Anybody else want to speculate??

The other bloke was not Australian. Possibly from Norway

I was told the second signing would be not as high profile, so I doubt it would be the two of them.
For the sake of speculation I would much rather S C-S here than Jamie Mac, I rate the young left back as a massive talent! He was our best at the olympics in my opinion.

I'll phone the express advocate tomorrow and let them know.......................................on the other hand, i might pull my head in instead. On a more serious note, the FFA website has a full list of aussies playing overseas. www.footballaustralia.com.au/public/Contact/aussiesabroadlist.asp?categoryid=24&menuItemID=57A number of them i havent heard of before. It is interesting the amount of players who are playing in the lower leagues of europe. You have to wonder whether this is a better option than playing in the a-league. Without knowing alot of these guys i am unsure whether they would have alot to contribute to the league. Any comments?.

Closed transfer window won't apply to players being bought in as short term replacements.

if someone's a short term replacement i assume their contract ends when the injured player recovers? do they receive the same match payments? and what happens if they are playing unbelievably well and better than the injured player was - could the club falsify the injury keeping the replacement player on a bit longer??. i know that this would be totally unrealistic and not likely but you never know

It's an interesting point, the point about faking injury was something I brought up some time ago and is one of the side effects to this system, which is probably the best they could implement in the circumstances.
It wont be an issue in our case, Boogaard and Mrdja are gone for the season, so these players will come in for the season.
I think when a replacement player signs, they declare the injured 'out' for however many weeks, say for example 4, and thats how long the replacement's contract runs, and how long the injured player is banned for, regardless of when he actually recovers from his injury.

WT the these injurierd players have to be out for 4 week's minimum. the new players are only joining us for that time BUT, " Played for England in the Youth team (16 y.o), but talk has it that he was bullied into it by the English Academy Heads at Leeds where he went as a 15 .yo because he had a choice to play for either Australia (born in Balmain in 1982), Scotland (both parents) or England (Scotland part of GB). Soccer Australia weren't offering anything to the youngster at the time, likewise from Scotland and so he felt obligated to keep Leeds happy where he was on apprenticeship" where's the TARTAN ARMY!!

Not 'official', but today's Telegraph reported that McMaster has been training with the boys for a week, and has been "offered a short term deal", quoting McKinna further; "but whether he joins us is up to him - we can't force him". But when you look at how stalled his career has been, and the fact that he is out here trialling at all, you'd have to suspect that if the offer is adequate, he'd jump at the chance, surely. It also says; "McKinna also wants 18 year old AIS graduate Brad Porter - a Central Coast-raised midfielder - on a short term contract to replace injured Nigel Boogaard."

Young Bradley is "Smitta" who regularly posts on this forum. Looks like our first forumite has graduated to the real stuff.

Me next please!
I bumped into half the team at Erina yesterday and talked to Gumps about signings and he said there had been a few boys training with them but they weren't making any new signings...I think he was just keeping his lips shut tight about it all to be honest, having played on the massive stage that he has they would have been told not to let any information leak out.
I suppose we just wait for an official release on the club's website, it's the only way to be sure.

I waas wondering how long it'd take for a forumite to make the squad. We'll see if Brad is signed. I agree about waiting for announcements I just wish they'd hurry up!

The pair of them will be on monthly contract's as that is the amount if time you can De-list an injured player, Mrdja and Boogard of course. BUT it is very doubtful that either of them will be back This season. So basically if the two new boys do well then they may have a shot at a contract for next year!! It's a win win
