Not likely.
More than 100 people in line for tix at Gosford at 7 this morning.
As for bandwagoners, I wasn't aware that the Bling regularly got 30,000+ at games

Anybody see the Sun Herald today?
The football 'rumours and funny stories' column mentioned that several A-League clubs are trying to sign David Carney when he's off contract in April. There was a clue that 'he'll be able to make a short drive north for training' Anybody heard anything else about this?

Can't 'possible late thunderstorm' be any given day in summer around here I haven't been to a home game in the rain yet. I hear we're pretty good in the wet?

What's Zelic going to predict next?
Scum to win the A-League?
Him to make the World Cup team?
Him to captain the World Cup team?
Him to captain the winning World Cup team?

Great to see so many people and businesses getting behind the team. Its shown a lot of the critics that people on the Coast will get behind the team.

I can't see how the video would have been inconclusive. I was half tanked when I saw it live last Friday and could clearly see him stop, stomp, and walk forward. It'd be even clearer on video.
What a crock of shit

There aren't many freebies going around for this match. I know people who can usually get a few decent comps to each home match but can only get two GA tix for Friday. Which could mean they're expecting to sell a lot more than usual...

Pardon my ignorance, but what's a PAX number? Is it the number you get on the ticket? I thought that was just the ticket number

Great turn out tonight (by us ) and great atmosphere at the ground. We were a bit patchy at the back but had some moments really fluid passing that cut the scum up. Great win though, takes a lot of the pressure off next week. Surprised at the low crowd, only 10000 odd and looked like almost as many of us as them (and loads more Marinators than Squadron!). But, look at it from the Newcastle point of view. Would you want to walk through urban wasteland and open sewers to get to a crap ground to watch a bad team?

Buy them over the phone if you haven't already. Took 2 mins and you can specify which bay you want (e.g. bay 10 if you want to stand and sing)

Bombard Gosford and Wyong councillors with emails about this. You can find email addresses at: www.gosford.nsw.gov.au/council/and www.wyong.nsw.gov.au/about/your_councillors.htmlCouncilllors usually respond to letters and emails from consitutents. I know some councillors pretty well, and they're more responsive than people give them credit for. Even if councils can't/won't reduce ground hire fees, they can at least account for where the money goes. Council expenditure is public information. Ask them why football clubs can't access grounds until April, if, as people suggest in the other thread, rugby league clubs get access to their grounds earlier. Ask them to justify this when most grounds are in pretty good condition in March. Cricket doesn't tear up grounds like the football codes do, so the argument about needing time to restore the grounds doesn't wash with me. Another way of bringing this to light is to write heaps of letters to local papers. Mayors Maher and Graham always get themselves in the papers talking up the Mariners and Socceroos (eg re. Soccers playing Asian Cup qualifier at CCS). Write something about the hypocrisy of them posturing like this, and then stomping on the grassroots development of the game on the Coast. Like all politicians, they'll respond to bad press

Good write up, although I was taken aback at a Tele A-League article without a single mention of Sydney!
Team spirit stuff seems pretty spot on - Mariners are mercifully free of the prima donnas and egos of some of the other teams in this league (eg our northern neighbours)

Yo
I've recently got back into the country, and the Coast, and the A-League and Mariners have exceeded any expectations I'd had. The standard of play's good and drawing decent crowds (well, compared to the handful of lower-league English matches I saw, probably a fair comparison).
Been to three matches so far, the two home matches after the NYE match, and away at the bling, and Mariners fans are awesome.
Like a lot of people in this country, I've always supported football, grew up playing it (10 years for City) but never really got into the old NSL. Great to see that so many people are getting behind the A-League and the Mariners, and pushing football in this country. I never thought I'd see the day when 12000 people watch a league football match in Gosford...
P.S. Not a Leeds fan... Forest all the way (except if Forest ever play the Mariners. That'd be a tough one...)
