mmm - it wasnt great, we really let their wings run a for bit tho.. i thought we should hav shut that down after mistakes in the first half.
i thought we played alright though, we had alot of chances, it would hav been nice to see those chances converted in goals tho. Great work by Tommy P as well, i thought he had a blinder of a game.

I think McMaster is doing a job but everyone (well me) has one eye on how the team will shape up when Gumprecht slots back into that position. We would have absolutely carved with Gumps there last night. Reports on his injury are that he's coming along well. Mrdja wil play next week so there will only be discussion about one player for the forseeable future anyway. As for the rest of the game, Ursus said it all. Everyone listen to Ursus, the man knows his stuff.

The middle of the park was the worry. Perth seemed to find it easy to make easy yards up the middle ......... stop picking on Spenny!

I have absolutely no idea how the hell we won that one. I'll take the 3 points gladly, but I'm still trying to figure out how we did it!
The defence were outstanding - O'Grady & Wilko in particular made some crucial clearances.
Up front, I agree that Kwasnik had a good game - pity he didn't get the goal that all his hard work deserved, but the important thing is that he gets his confidence back and more performances like that will help. Interesting suggestion about him being put into a midfield role - no idea how that would work out, to be honest.
Perth looked very good, though...if they keep playing like that and taking a few more of their chances, I think they'll make the top 4 easily.

Fair comment, striker. I don't think we did play that badly - it was more that Perth played very well - at least in their build-up play. if things continue like they have been the last few weeks, both teams could leapfrog Bling!

you can't score two goals and play that badly, and Perth did play well but were wasteful, but their buildup was helped by a gaping chasm in our middle that they could pass through to the box (their goal was a worked play) or use to channel the ball to the other side. We scored from breaks, they couldnt get em in, sounds like we scapped a good away win!

To me it seemed that we dominated - particularly in the first half.
We seemed to be attacking a lot more, and finding our way into the box a lot more - which is great. However, we didn't have many shots. Considering how often we were in the box I don't think we took enough shots....we seem to still have the problem of
1) We just can't seem to find that critical moment where we've evaded everybody and there's a split second of free time (though once or twice when we did have that we didn't do much with it)
2)Sometimes There isn't enough mungrel around the box. A few times I found myself wishing that the ball carrier would just have a go himself instead of trying to find something to do with it. Though I think we're getting better at that - and it didn't seem to cost us as many chances as it has at other times. Of course it's easier to see what the options are in the stands than it is on the field.
After Perth scored we seemed to self destruct (again). They found themselves in our box a lot - and we still made a couple of critical defensive mistakes that they should've capitalised off. Sometimes they screwed it up, though there were a couple of times when it was Danny who saved us. Actually, come to think of it we started to collapse before they scored....I was just saying to one of the guys I was with that they're spending way too much time in the box....we're gonna slip up and they'll score.
We're definitely seeing the Mariners of last year come back though! For the most part we played pretty well. Saw some fantastic balls being put through, and our attack is getting a lot more varied, which is fantastic. I thought the result was fair. We've definitely picked up from the start of this season. Playing more confident too.

They were able to retain possession and pour through the middle because our Central MF decided to have a night off (not for the first time either)
