i think the citing system is fine. it recognises that some tackles are worse than others, and that sometimes whether or not the ref had 'dealt with it' on the park is irrelevant - sometimes the refs go over the top, sometimes people deserve more than three games (ben thatcher anybody?).
it needs to be applied correctly, fred's assault on mark milligan earlier this year was an example where i don't think it was applied all that well.
btw - i don't think seo dived or simulated. the challenge was clumsy, yes, but it was also violent. he got hit hard, and when you get hit that hard, you've got every right to call for assistance.
also, seo simply isn't the epitome of diving and cheating. joel griffiths and allessandro are far far worse.

It was play acting at it's best. Soggy went down holding his stomach/chest area, Jedi's feet DID NOT come into contact with that area. I have seen the replay quite a few times, and Soggy Seo raises his knees towards his chest. It was a classic "roll around like a baby" act. He did deserve to be sent off for the tackle, but Soggy made it look a hell of a lot worse than it was.

............ had he done that in the EPL he'd have gotten an automatic three games (straight red for violent conduct). it was more clumsy than violent i think! Tis still classified as violent conduct.

Actually, if he's going for the ball it's Serious Foul Play, not violent conduct :-) Seo's a f***wit, he barely got touched at all, I don't think he'd have a stud mark on him. He deserved to be cautioned for the simulation - although you couldn't have expected the ref to pick it up with certainty. When you're badly hurt you don't roll around all over the injury - it's dickheads like him who cause our game to be ridiculed by so many. IF he was that badly hurt by that knock then he'd have to get stretchered off after every tackle. Some people ask why he got boo'd, if anything he should've continued to get boo'd every time he touched the ball. Nice to see his teammates thought it was appropriate to stand over Jedi while he was still on the ground too, assumedly to have a go at him. Tough stuff!!!!

I dont know why you all keep bagging out Seo. he is quite obviously the best defensive midfielder in the country, and would make anyones starting 11. If you wouldnt chose him in your starting 11, then you know nothing about football.
(this is the response I got from a QLD fan in round 1 last year when I was bagging the shit out of Seo, yeah, he was playing better last year, but cummon, seriously)

Cheers to Bearinator for pointing out the obvious fact which we're all so clearly missing ;-)

And, as was mentioned before... Credit to the lad for just getting off the pitch and getting on with it.

FFA is inconsistent as usual. Leijer's tackle on Gumps was as bad in Melbourne and he only got a yellow.
We booed Seo because he looked like he'd been shot, then got up and continued on once the red card was shown with no ill effect.
Yes it was a bad tackle but it's also bad sportsmanship on Seo's part.

How the hell can you even start to compare Leijer's tackle to Jedi's??? I dont know in what way you can call his just as bad. Tackle from behind, yellow card. 2 feet studs up lunging tackle from 2 metres away, 2 weeks ban minimum.
Seriously, I really want to know how you can call Leijer's "just as bad" beacuse im baffled.

That makes no difference. A player loses his footing and injures himself...are you going to suspended the player for tripping over? ?

Pricess's tackle was a yellow card at most. Jedi's was a 2 footed lunge.

Apparently Leijers' nickname is Princess and he hates it.

Off the Ball says it all.
Gumps did not trip over and injure himself, he was injured by Leijer's tackle. Even the so called Fox experts suggested at the time that he was lucky it wasn't a red.
All I'm doing is pointing out the inconsistencies Bearinator.

We are talking about two illegal tackles. Im using that as an example because your basing the suspension on the injury not the tackle

FA Media Release
Thursday, 21 December 2006
No Additional Penalty for Jedinak
Football Federation Australia (FFA) appointed Disciplinary Arbitrator, Tony O'Reilly, today determined that no additional penalty would be given to Michael (Mile) Jedinak in relation an incident in the 70th minute of Saturday’s Round 17 Hyundai A-League match between Central Coast Mariners and Queensland Roar at Bluetongue Central Coast Stadium.
The disciplinary hearing heard that Jedinak immediately showed contrition for his actions and had also attempted to pull out of the tackle, and as such the mandatory one-match suspension and a stern reprimand were deemed to be sufficient sanction.
Jedinak will now serve the mandatory one match suspension for being issued a red-card for the round 18 Hyundai A-League match against the Melbourne Victory on Sunday 31st December and will be available for selection for the Central Coast Mariners against the Newcastle Jets in Round 19 at Energy Australia Stadium on Friday 5th January 2007.
